MARCH
9th: Power Electronics for Voltage Control
of Power Systems - Don Ramey will be going over
the fundamentals of reactive power on power
systems and then covering the FACTS equipment
developed by Siemens/Westinghouse.
MARCH 16th through 30th: Coverage of
Power System Fundamental - This will cover the
basics of doing calculations on a power system,
starting with Per Unit methods and moving
through symetrical components and ending with
Fault Current Calculatiosn. This class will be
taught by Anwar Saeed who is a relaying engineer
with Progress Energy and Ralph Fehr who is
currently a power system instructor, and teaches
several PE Review courses. This will be a
working class with many examples and possibly
with hw. Bring pencials, paper and your
calculators! Anyone studying for the PE will
appreciate this course as an excellent review
for those sections of the test. This will also
be a great refresher for anyone who only
occasionaly has to work with these values.
