Attention Program Evaluators and Department Heads:
IEEE/ABET Will Host Two Training Workshops at ASEE Annual Convention
 
On 18 June 2000, at the Adam's Mark Hotel,
St. Louis, MO, the IEEE Educational Activities Board (EAB) will hold two
educational workshops during the American Society for Engineering Education
(ASEE) annual conference. Both the new Accreditation Board for Engineering
and Technology (ABET) Engineering Criteria 2000 and the classic Engineering
Technology Criteria will be presented at simultaneous all day workshops.
 
The EC-2000 Training Workshop is co-sponsored by the Committee on
Engineering Accreditation Activities (CEAA). The purpose of this workshop
is to train IEEE members serving as program evaluators and department heads
under the new ABET Engineering Criteria 2000. Full implementation of the
new criteria is due Fall 2001.
 
Trainers are:
· Mr. C. Denny Avers, Retired from IBM, Training Coordinator for the
Committee on Engineering Accreditation Activities (CEAA)/IEEE
Representative to the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of
ABET
· Dr. William E. Sayle, II, Professor and Associate, Chair School of
Engineering and Computer Engineering, Georgia Institute of
Technology/IEEE Representative to the Engineering Accreditation Commission
(EAC) of ABET
· Dr. David L. Soldan, Ph.D., Professor and Head, Electrical and
Computer Engineering, Kansas State University/Member of the
Committee on Engineering Accreditation Activities (CEAA)
 
The Engineering Technology Workshop is co-sponsored by the Committee on
Technology Accreditation Activities (CTAA). During this workshop, IEEE
members who serve as program evaluators and department heads will be taught
the classic ABET Engineering Technology Criteria.

· Mr. Richard A. Painter, Vice President, Painter Engineering,
Inc./Program Evaluator Coordinator for the Committee on Technology
Accreditation Activities (CTAA)
· Professor Rosida Coowar, Assistant Chair, Department of Engineering
Technology, University of Central Florida/ Member, Committee on Technology
Accreditation Activities (CTAA)
 
Both workshops will take place from 8:30 to 5:30 p.m., with a lunch break
from 12:30 to 1:30. Registration and a continental breakfast will be held
from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. The cost for each workshop to non-IEEE Evaluators
is $200.00 in advance, and $250.00 at the door.
