Speaker short bio: I joined S&C Electric in 1999. I am the Territory Manager for North Florida. I have a Masters degree in Engineering Management from the University of South Florida, and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Florida International University..
I am 50 years old and was born & raised in Miami, Florida. I worked for Florida Power & Light Company for 19 years, beginning in 1980. I held several positions in Distribution Engineering and T&D. I joined the Substation Operations Group in 1989 during the Quality Improvement effort to win the Deming Prize. While in the Substation Group I was involved in benchmarking other utilities, buying new substation equipment, managing the maintenance system, employee training, a member of the automotive committee, and developing a new maintenance and work management system.
My presentation will be an overview of power transformer protection, covering a little history of the subject, the evolution of S&C circuit-switchers, and a discussion of the application of circuit-switchers vs. circuit breakers for protecting power transformers. I will not go into too much detail since we are only planning on about a one-hour presentation. It is an interesting subject and should make for good discussion. I am looking forward to it! RM

We are the Orlando IEEE Chapter of Power Engineering, Industrial Applications and Power Electronics. We are a joint society of these three societies. Unless indicated otherwise, everyone is welcome at our meetings including students, non-ieee members, and even those who aren't engineers.
