IEEE Biography for Fred J. Heath
Telecommunications Engineer, Power Line Carrier

Mr. Heath received the BS.E.E. Degree from the University of Alberta.
After two years of graduate studies at MIT, he joined the National
Research Council of Canada in 1940, where he was engaged in the
development of radar equipment. He was loaned to the MIT Radiation
Laboratory for one year, and then transferred to Toronto, where he
served for four years as Resident Engineer for the RCAF at Research
Enterprises Limited. In 1945 he joined the Canadian General Electric
Company, where he became involved in the design and manufacture of
antennas and transmitters for AM, FM, and TV broadcasting, transmitters
for radar and sonar, and special-purpose high-power amplifiers, and
power supplies. In 1970 he joined Ontario Hydro as Power Line Carrier
Engineer in the Protection and Control Department. He holds seven
Canadian patents, and has served on numerous national and international
industry/society committees, and in professional and civic
organizations.
