Dr. Don Carmont is a training and development specialist, who brings to his consulting practice an expertise in “people skills,” gained from thirty years of leadership, teaching, training, writing and public speaking to hundreds of thousands of people in nearly thirty countries. With an MA in management, and a Ph.D. in communications, Don has designed, developed and delivered training programs, leadership development courses, and several thousand seminar sessions to international conferences, graduate school classrooms, and on-site for organizations in both public and private sector, from American Express to Zurich Life.
Expect thirty minutes of timely, motivational, inspirational, humorous, and anecdotally packed material that will give you insight into a another’s life’s journey as well as revealing things about you that you may well have not realized. This is a not-to-be missed opportunity!

Advances in microfluidics technology offer exciting possibilities in the realm of enzymatic analysis, DNA analysis, proteomic analysis involving proteins and peptides, immuno-assays, implantable drug delivery devices, and environmental toxicity monitoring. This presentation will first present an overview of the droplet-based "digital" microfluidics technology developed at Duke University. A system design methodology that attempts to apply classical synthesis and module placement methods to the design of microfluidics-based biochips will then be presented.

Dr. Chakrabarty is an associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke University. He has received both the National Science Foundation Early Faculty (CAREER) award and the Office of Naval Research Young Investigator award. His current research projects include: design and testing of system-on-chip integrated circuits; design automation of microfluidics-based biochips; microfluidics-based chip cooling; distributed sensor networks.
