Both the IEEE MTT/ED/AP/CPMT/SSC West Ukraine Chapter and MTT/ED/AP Georgia Chapter annually in autumn organize the International Seminar/Workshop on Direct and Inverse Problems of Electromagnetic and Acoustic Wave Theory (DIPED), which is held year in Ukraine and year in Georgia.

The DIPED seminar series started in 1982 as a form of scientific cooperation between the Institute of Radio engineering and Electronics, Academy of Sciences of USSR (Moscow), Tbilisi State University, Tbilisi, Georgia, and Institute of Applied Problems of Mechanics and Mathematics, Lviv, Ukraine. Until 1990, DIPED was held annually in Lviv and Tbilisi at a turn. This scientific event assembled scientists and engineers from various cities of FSU (Moscow, Tbilisi, Lviv, Kharkiv, Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk, Saint Petersburg, etc.), as well as from the neighboring countries.

In the beginning of 1990’s the work of the DIPED was temporary interrupted because of the non-scientific reasons. At the same time the first in the FSU countries IEEE West Ukraine Joint Chapter was established. Lately the IEEE MTT/ED/AP/EMC Georgian Chapter has been formed as well. In cooperation with the IEEE, DIPED was renewed and transformed to the Annual Joint Seminar/Workshop organized by both MTT/ED/AP/C PMT/SSC West Ukraine and MTT/ED/AP/EMC Georgian Chapters (year in Ukraine and year in Georgia). Since that, traditionally IEEE Electron Devices, Antenna and Propagation and Microwave Theory and Techniques Societies are technically sponsoring this event.

Annually scientists from Ukraine, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, India, Israel, Japan, Poland, Russia, USA, China are submitting their papers under the following topics:

• Theoretical aspects of electrodynamics
• Scattering and Diffraction theory
• Propagation and scattering in complex media
• Numerical methods
• EMC problems
• Antennas and antenna arrays
• Acoustics: theory and applications
• Inverse problems and synthesis
• Nanotechnologies and Optical-Nano devices

It is notable that DIPED full-text proceedings are available at IEEE Xplore Digital Library and indexed at SCOPUS, WOS platforms.

The workshop provides an opportunity to exchange scientific results and current research progress in the area of electromagnetics, electrodynamics, antennas and acoustics theory and applications.
