The IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) UKRI Chapter was
formed in October 1998. At the time when the chapter was formed,
there were over 160 IEEE EMBS members in the UK and Republic of
Ireland. The field of Biomedical Engineering is diversified and
continues to change due to rapid advancement in technology. The
opportunity for IEEE to bring together people interested in this
ever-growing discipline is unique. The aim of this Chapter is to
provide a forum for exchanging ideas in research and development of
biomedical engineering and promoting this profession among young
graduates. The EMB Chapter aims to hold a number of meetings each
year which are of interest to members and reflect applications and
technical advancement in the areas of
- Biomedical Information Engineering
- Medical Imaging
- Biomedical Informatics
- Bioinstrumentation
- Biomaterials
- Biomechanics
- Cellular, tissue and genetic engineering
- Clinical engineering
- Rehabilitation engineering
