2004: Wellington Santos Mota
Dr. Wellington Santos Mota obtained his B.Sc (1970) and M.Sc (1972) from Federal University of Paraíba - Campina Grande - PB - Brazil. PhD (1981) from The University of Waterloo - Waterloo - Canada. He acquired his professional experience as engineer in a hydroelectric company (5 years). Later, Professor at the University Federal da Paraíba, he continued for six years as a Consulting Engineer for the same hydro company. He has used his professional knowledge in the formation of engineers for more than 20 years. In addition he guided three M.Sc. and 06 Ph.D students. For four years he had the responsability of being Coordinator of the Graduate Course in Electrical Engineering at the Federal University of Paraíba. He has published around 44 papers in Brazilian and international conferences and journals, contributing with new ideas in the area of power systems. He has participated of an important scientific committee in Brazil and is a Technical reviewer for various national and international journals and conferences. He a member of the Joint IAS/PES/PELS Chapter Bahia / Northeast 1.
2003: Manoel Afonso de Carvalho Jr
Dr.
Manoel Afonso de Carvalho Jr.has made important
technical contributions in the study of Electrical
Power Systems; he is the author of a number
of technical papers. Outstanding contributions
in the area of power engineering education:
he taught a number of courses, inclusive for
engineers of hydroelectric companies, he is
Coordinator of the Professional Graduate Courses
of the University of Pernambuco, he Coordinator
of a Distance Course for professional engineers.

- DEESP at the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco.

2002: Sreeramulu R. Naidu
Dr. Sreeramulu R. Naidu has made important technical contributions in the study of Electromagnetic Transients in Power Systems. Outstanding contributions in the area of power engineering education: he is the author of the book titled “Electromagnetic Transients in Power Systems” (in Portuguese) and author of a number of papers. Emphasis should be given to his support for creation of the new PES Bahia / Northeast I (PES/IAS/PELS)
