As part of the Manitoba Hydro family, the 4th largest utility in Canada, the Manitoba HVDC Research Centre performs innovative research and development in HVDC and power electronic technologies, instrumentation, and simulation. Through the introduction of the PSCAD simulation software, now used in over 60 countries, the Centre has set a new industry standard in power system simulation. In addition to the development and marketing of software and technology products, the Centre offers research and engineering services, laboratory services, PSCAD training, and technology transfer training.
