Dr. Sridhar (Sri) Krishnan

Sridhar (Sri) Krishnan received the B.E. degree in electronics and communication engineering from the College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University, Chennai, India, in 1993, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees (with student fellowship from Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research) in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Calgary, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in 1996 and 1999 respectively. He joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Ryerson University, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in July 1999, and currently he is a chairman and professor of the department. Sri Krishnan is a registered professional engineer in the province of Ontario, and is a senior member of IEEE (EMBS, SP, and CAS societies) and a member of IET. He is also the IEEE Signal Processing Chapter chair in the Toronto section.

Sri Krishnan holds the Canada Research Chair position in biomedical signal analysis. He is a recipient of the 2008 Ontario Research Innovation Award from Biodiscovery Toronto; the 2007 Canadian Engineers' Young Engineer Achievement Award from Engineers Canada; the 2006 New Pioneers Award in Science and Technology; the 2006 South Asian Community Achiever Award; the 2006 IEEE Toronto Section Best Chapter Chair Award; the 2005 IEEE AESS Best Chapter Chair Award; the 2005 IEEE Certificate of Appreciation from six societies; four Best Research Paper awards co-authored with his graduate students in national and international conferences; and the 2005 FEAS Research Excellence Award. Sri Krishnan's research interests include adaptive signal representations and analysis and their applications in biomedicine, multimedia (audio), and biometrics. His academic interests include curriculum design, experiential learning, and global research and education.
