The Canadian Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering (CJECE) welcomes for consideration previously unpublished work not submitted elsewhere, in either English or French, by both Canadian and international authors.

Important notice: Papers submitted to CJECE are not to be submitted to any other journal/publisher until a final decision is made. Also, papers submitted elsewhere are not to be doubly submitted to CJECE. This is the act of double submission and a serious departure from honesty under IEEE plagiarism guidelines followed by the CJECE editorial board. Exceptions include conference and workshop publications as well as the re-publication of material deemed suitable for a variety of reasons as selected by the editorial board (e.g., for wider distribution and more exposure).

The IEEE guidelines state that it is not uncommon in technical publishing for material to be presented at various stages of its evolution. For instance, new ideas can be published in a workshop, more developed work can go in a conference proceeding, and a fully developed contribution can take the form of a journal or transactions paper. This publication process is an important means of scientific communication. However, it is required that this evolutionary process is fully referenced by the author(s).

Before submission, authors should review the guidelines on the Manuscript Preparation page of this site. Manuscripts that fail to comply with these guidelines will be rejected without further processing.

Electronic only submission: As of January 1st, 2012, the CJECE is accepting papers only through the Manuscript Central web site operated by ScholarOne Inc. The site is self instructing and very easy to use. Authors are required to first create an account. After the registration and submission of the manuscript, a simple log-in will take you to the site for follow-ups, paper status, etc. A user guide for Manuscript Central is available for download.

If you are ready to submit, and your paper (.pdf preferred, or .ps) conforms to the guidelines in Manuscript Preparation, then kindly download, complete and scan the Copyright Form. Proceed then to https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/cjece, instructions for which are provided below.  For ease of use, we recommend authors first collect some required information for pasting into the appropriate fields in the various screens.

Review Process

You are invited to recommend reviewers or exclude ones. The discretion in this regards will be ultimately with the Associate Editors

The system indicates payment is required at two points over the course of time that your paper is being considered/prepared for publication: a Deposit of CA$100, as well as Page Charges of CA$100 / published page.

For the deposit, you will be notified upon a preliminary examination by an Editor-in-Chief (EiC) whether the $100 is required, i.e., your paper meets the Publication’s minimum standards for style and scope suitability, and is to be assigned to an Associate Editor. Page Charges become payable once the Publication Editor has sent a draft camera-ready PDF to you, following approval of the manuscript for publication. If your paper is approved for publication, the deposit will be applied to your Page Charges. Otherwise, it will be returned to you.

To Authors Who Have Previously Submitted Papers Not Yet Approved

The CJECE regrets that during the process of transitioning between the manual system of managing the review process and the current on-line system, almost all papers in the "pipeline" were lost. Please accept our most sincere apologies.

If you submitted a paper to the CJECE between January 2010 and December 2011, and it has not been submitted for publication to another Journal in the meantime, we ask you to consider re-submitting your paper to us through the new online system as Manuscript Central.
