IEEE Bangalore Section was established in 1977 and is one of the most vibrant Sections in India. Over the years the strength of the section has grown steadily and currently the Section membership stands close to 7000. This membership is spread across various sectors and is a nice blend of Industry, academia and research organizations.
Close to half of the Section’s strength are Student Members spread over the various Student Branches in Karnataka. There are about 53 Student Branches in Karnataka in the various graduate and post-graduate engineering colleges and these units conduct technical talks, TechFests etc.
A dedicated Student Paper contest, Technical Colloquium and Student Leadership Workshop are some of the major events conducted under Student Activities of the Section. Under Technology for Humanitarian challenge, a new initiative named All India Young Engineers’ Humanitarian Challenge (AIYEHUM) is organized by the Section. This initiative aims at helping students recognize real world/humanitarian challenges and Nurture innovative ideas of students by mentoring their implementation approach.
