Fervour- Annual Technical and Managerial fest
BVPIEEE, the IEEE Student Branch of Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College of Engineering, New Delhi, organised its annual technical and managerial fest: FERVOUR 2015 on March 25.
After ‘Going green’, ‘Changeneering’, 'COMBATING VIRUSES: Infection for Perfection!', 'Live your reality in the Virtual World'; the 8th edition of Fervour saw a new theme.
"Technology and comics make as good a combination as peanut butter and jelly." This was the basic idea behind the theme of Fervour '15- 'COMIC CON'. Prizes upto 15 lakhs were up for grabs in the various Online and Offline events organized at Fervour 2015.
Events took place at offline Fervour :
A. Women-In-Engineering, BVPIEEE
1. National Students' Symposium (Technical Paper Presentation)
The National Students' Symposium was the flagship event of BVPIEEE at Fervour 2015. National Student Symposium, in association with Women In Engineering(WIE), was a technical paper presentation event organized as a part of BVPIEEE's annual fest FERVOUR 8.0. The review and evaluation of all selected participants was done by our esteemed panel comprising of Dr. Rachna Garg (Treasurer, IEEE Delhi Section), Dr. Prerna Gaur( Secretary, IEEE Delhi Section) and Dr. Neeta Pandey (Member, IEEE WIE Delhi section).
B. Lambda Eta Chapter, IEEE-HKN, BVCOE
2. X-LANG
X-LANG was a coding event under IEEE-HKN, BVCOE in Fervour-15. In this event, participants were made to read the documentation of a special language “LOL”. Then they were provided with a questionnaire, which was entirely based on this language and they had to program in LOL code.3. I'm Feeling Lucky (Lambda Eta Chapter)
This was an event that tested the participants’ skills to decode information, solve riddles in minimum time . Prizes worth 3k were at stake.4. WALL-C (In association with its E-Newsletter, Cognizance)
Presented by the E-Newsletter of Lambda Eta Chapter, Cognizance, event was Wall C. Around 50 people participated in this painting competition in which people painted superheroes and comic characters by using different alphabets in the words "FERVOUR 15 COGNIZANCE".
C. Industrial Applications Society, BVPIEEE
5. Stark Industries vs Wayne Enterprises: B-Plan Competition (In association with E-Cell, a BVPIEEE SIG)
This was a Business event at Fervour ‘15 that had 2 rounds which included the presentation and drafting the ideas of the participants. The event was judged by Prof. Dr. Dharmender Saini( PRINCIPAL, B.V.C.O.E) and Mr. Rohit Garg( Consultant Senior, TCS). Mr. Garg possesses 16yrs experience in TCS and carries out B-plan consultancy in BFSI domain.6. Wolves of IAS Street
The Wolves of IAS Street was an inaugural event in Fervour’15 for the new chapter- IAS (Industry Application Society) started under the student branch of BVPIEEE this year. It was an event based on hypothetical industrial world where the participants faced real situational questions. It had two rounds - question answer round and final interview round.
D. CODE-X: Code with a Difference (a BVPIEEE SIG)
7. The Cake is a Lie
The cake is a lie turned out to be a very successful event, with a participation of over 50 students. Because of the full cooperation and dedication of all the event managers and coordinators the event looked like a piece of cake.8. License to Debug
A team event where participants are required to debug the code given to them which turned out to be a very successful as well as a challenging event.9. Don't Panic
All the teams were made to go through two rounds of coding. First round was comparatively a simpler one, consisting of 6 mcqs and 4 coding questions to be solved in 30 minutes. The other one was tougher, comprising of three C programming based questions to be completed in 30 minutes.
E. RAU (Formerly RU, a BVPIEEE SIG)
10. Magneto
Magneto was an event in which participants were required to finish tasks using their differential drive robot. Their controlling skills were tested. It was a robotics event in which skills of the participants to maneuver a differential drive robot in a difficult track were put to test.11. Junkyard Wars: Treasure, not Trash
Making a machine from the junk and using the machine to destroy your opponent. This defined Junkyard Wars. The teams were asked to create a balloon shooter and the teams were judged on the basis of design and performance of the shooter. The event was one of the most anticipated ones and it lived up to its billing.12. Line Follower: May the Force be with your Bot!
LFR was a very successful event in Fervour ’15 with a huge turnout recorded which came as no surprise because Robotics has always been one of the USPs of Fervour.
F. BVCOE Quiz Club (a BVPIEEE SIG)
13. Quizardium Leviosa (Comic-based Quiz)
This was Quizzing event based on Comics and Manga. Around 60 people took part in the event. They participated in teams of two as well as solo. The quiz had questions related to superheroes, cartoon shows, etc for which the participants contested. Though the atmosphere was ebullient, people were also nostalgic, revisiting their childhood days upon seeing questions about their favourite animated shows and first superheroes.14. Infinite Loop
The event was a general quiz with the usual rules. As we had also kept a prize for the team with best team name we gave chocolates to the best team name along with smaller chocolates to 2 honourable mentions. Then there was the pounce round with 12 questions in clockwise direction and 12 in anticlockwise direct. After that there was a LVC or long visual connect.
G. Gamma (Gaming and Multimedia, a BVPIEEE SIG)
15. Gammathlon
Gammathlon was a gaming event during which 4 video games were hosted by the Event Managers. Prelims consisted of choices between Need For Speed Most Wanted (Racing game), Unreal Tournament GOTY (Free for All FPS), and Counter Strike 1.6 (5v5 FPS).All games a saw very good participation. The final was played on Age of Empires 2 (Real Time Strategy) for which 6 players were selected from each team/player qualifying prelim games.16. FIFA, not Soccer: The Ultimate Challenge
The event was one of the two gaming events held in fervour, 2015. It was a gaming event comprising of knockout matches in which competitors fought their way out to conquer their opponents in the game ‘FIFA 15’. The format of the event was a ‘one-on-one ‘Knockout matches in which the participants had to defeat their opponents to proceed to the subsequent rounds.
H. Drishti (a BVPIEEE SIG)
17. Be your own Marvel
Be Your Own Marvel was an event of creation and imagination. Each participant was provided with a system preloaded with Photoshop which was their canvas. Each of them was expected to create a superhero with a catchy name and an equally catchy tagline to go with it.
I. Pratibimb (The Official BVPIEEE Magazine)
18. Vocab Whiz (Presented by Mahavir Jain's Academy)
Hosted by the Mahavir Jain’s Academy, one of the sponsors of Fervour 2015, Vocab Whiz saw a very enthusiastic participation of about 65 students, all ready to test their vocabulary. Participants gave it their all to complete the Text Completion and Sentence Equivalence questions with an air of excitement and competitive zeal marking one of the most awaited events of Fervour ‘15.19. The Grammarly Rises
The event consisted of three rounds. In round one(15 minutes) and round two(10 minutes), participants had to solve the Unseen passages for the common grammatical errors, scramble various words, correct the spelling mistakes, etc.
J. Sporting Events
20. FUTSAL: Battle Royale
The Battle Royale is organized every year during Fervour, under the banner of BVPIEEE. It is a grand football event where teams from all over Delhi participate. The tournament had a knockout type structure.21. The Basketball Challenge
This was a 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament at Fervour ’15! Teams of 4 players each to played to prove their passion for the game. The event was held in 3on3 half court fashion at the basketball court. The event went on smoothly and turned out to be a success.
K. Miscellaneous (or the REALLY FUN events)
23. The Rubik's Cube Game
Rubik's cube is a logic game and math puzzle that develops critical thinking and spatial reasoning skills.24. Hey, Arm-Wrestling Slayer
It was an Arm Wrestling Event divided into 2 categories (Men and Women). Around 70 people participated in total. There was a tough competition among the participants.25. Valar Morghulis: Losing Chess
The event was also dubbed as “Suicide Chess”. The objective of the game was to lose all of your pieces, leaving yourself with nothing left on the board. It's easy to understand why this game is often called "anti-chess," as all of the normal rules of strategy and tactics are turned on their head. In Valar Morghulis, all chess pieces must die!26. The Last Man Biking
The player who crossed the finishing line last while staying in the lane and kept his feet on the bike won! One of the most successful event of Fervour'15. Many participants registered for this event.27. Catch The Flash
In this event the participants were given normal tombola papers. But the numbers were announced in a binary coded format in the form of lit bulbs. The participants had to first decry-pt the code within the time limit and then mark them.28. Dexter's Laboratory
Dexter's Laboratory was a time based obstacle race where you had to complete the given tasks as fast as possible. The tasks were revealed on the day of the event itself.
