Automotive Electronics - Advanced Simulation and Test Solutions Tackle EMC Requirements
12:00 PM MT (Duration: 1 hour)
Electronics is a key market driver in the automotive industry. With an increasing range of systems and frequencies, EMC is becoming a much more challenging task for automotive engineers. The next generation of electronic innovations will bring advanced vehicle safety systems, electronic engine and chassis control, drive-by-wire, active suspension, and a host of wireless technologies.
Automotive engineers must increasingly depend on new, more sophisticated software and test solutions to deliver innovative, mixed-technology design concepts to market faster and at lesser cost.
Learn from the experts in the industry about the development of cost effective approaches for future automotive EMC and test issues.
Presenters:
Dr. Todd Hubing
Michelin Professor of Vehicular Electronics at Clemson University, Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research.
Dr. Vincente Rodriguez
Senior Principal Antenna Design Engineer, ETS-Lindgren
Moderator:
Ron Schneiderman
Author, The Mobile Technology Question & Answer Book – A Survival Guide for Business Managers and Technology Lost – Hype and Reality in the Digital Age
Contributing editor, Electronic Design and Vision magazines
Founding editor, Wireless Systems Design magazine

Career Opportunities In Consumer Electronics — What Technical Skills Are Most In Demand Today?
The spectacular growth of the consumer electronic products sector and the demand innovation and shorter development cycles are requiring semiconductor suppliers to work more closely with CE producers to improve design processes and help bring CE products to market faster. A joint survey by KPMG, the Global Semiconductor Alliance, and the Consumer Electronics Association found that about two thirds of integrated circuit respondents currently derive 60 percent of their revenue from CE products. That's expected to jump to 80 percent in five years, as the penetration of technology into U.S. households continues to grow. Join us to find what career opportunities there are for engineers and other technical professionals in this very exciting and dynamic market.
Speakers:
Stuart J. Lipoff, Partner, IP Action Partners
Lipoff is a consultant in telecommunications, information technology, media, electronics, and ebusiness. He is a past president of the IEEE Consumer Electronics Society, an elected member of the IEEE Consumer Electronics Society National Administration Committee, and chairman of the IEEE Consumer Electronics Society Standards Committee. He's also a fellow of the IEEE Communications, Computer, Circuits & Devices and Vehicular Technology Societies.
Steve Koenig, Director of Industry Analysis, Consumer Electronics Association
Steve Koenig directs several Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) market analysis programs, including the association's semi-annual CE Industry Forecast. He also develops consumer research initiatives.
