The
IAS welcomes and encourages the participation of engineering students, either
graduate or undergraduate, in the Annual Meeting. Various programs are available for
students. These programs are funded from
grants made possible by the generosity
of Mr. Myron Zucker, a long time former member and friend of IAS with a special
concern for the education of young
engineers.
Of
particular interest to students are the following programs:
(1) An undergraduate design program: the
Myron Zucker Undergraduate Student Design Awards (https://zucker.electrostandards.com/), which honor students or student teams and the
students' associated electrical engineering department. This competition is available to students enrolled
in a Bachelor's program in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent. In addition to cash honoraria, the IAS will
reimburse actual travel expenses not to exceed $2000 per award for the winners
to attend this 44th IAS Annual Meeting in Houston, Texas, USA, October 4 -
October 8, 2009. Prize winners will also
receive one year complimentary membership in IAS.
(2) The
Myron Zucker travel award, given to a number of students to help defray the
cost of travelling to and attending the conference. This money is available for both
undergraduate and graduate students.
There are multiple such awards available, however, should the number of
applicants exceed the available funds, priority will be given to students not
presenting papers.
Send your application to Mr. Don Dunn, at Donald.dunn@ieee.org.
(3) All
students are invited to a special luncheon on Monday, October 5, 2009, at the
Conference. This is great opportunity to
network with others in your field of interest, and to get to better know the
IEEE, the IAS, and what our community has to offer to you.
Welcome to the IAS Annual Meeting!
