Student Travel Awards

We are happy to announce that the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society and the US National Science Foundation (NSF) will support student travel to CASE-ISAM 2016!

Travel awards will be made to qualifying recipients according to criteria posted below based on individual applications submitted through Paper Plaza. We expect that 30 awards of $500-$1000 will be made depending on need and the availability of funds. Recipients will be reimbursed after the conference through submitting receipts and a brief report of their experience at CASE 2016. The deadline for support applications is July 7. Applications will be reviewed by a Selection Committee and recipients will be notified via email by July 15 , 2016.

Please note: the travel grants will likely not cover all expenses associated with registration, travel and subsistence to the conference, so additional funds are necessary from other sources.

The travel grants give students opportunities to present, discuss, and receive feedback on original research within the broader community at the conference. Students selected to receive travel awards will be asked to present their work wither as part of a conference paper, workshop or poster presentation. In addition, they will be asked to attend at least 1 workshop or tutorial of interest on August 21, engage in other activities at the conference designed for students such as the Women in Engineering (WIE) lunch, if appropriate, the student best paper competition session, to be held on August 23, and the poster session to be held on the same day in the evening. Students will also participate in a career forum focused on jobs in automation, tentatively to be held in the evening of August 22 in conjunction with the exhibitors. In addition, a special meeting of the doctoral consortium awardees will be organized at CASE 2016 on August 24.
