Fractional Order Systems |

Scope: The aim of this session is to present recent advances in the field of "Fractional Order Systems" and to exchange and discuss new developments about fractional calculus applications in control, automation and robotics.
The topics include mathematical modeling of fractional dynamic systems, numerical approximation of fractional systems, fractional controller design and system identification, fractional robust and adaptive control, and applications of fractional calculus to signal processing and engineering systems.

From Planning to Control of Manufacturing Systems |

Scope: The topics to this special session deal with manufacturing systems and mainly include:
- optimization of production,
- planning and control,
- formalisms and modelling techniques: simulation, Petri nets, automata, max plus algebra,
- applications to manufacturing systems.
Due to economical considerations, the performance, degree of quality and productivity, of manufacturing systems is constantly increasing and necessitate the development of new tools and methods to analyze, evaluate, control and planning such complex systems. The modern tendency is toward the integration of planning and control in a unique computer-aided management system. The aim of this session is to present new methods and complementary approaches for the study and synthesis of such integrated systems, and to allow exchanges and discussions on current trends on the field. Case studies of industrial relevance are encouraged.

Background
and Goals: In recent years, the growing role of informatics
in controls is probably most evident in automotive applications.
The increasing complexity of modern automotive systems often calls
for computational intelligence approaches, where traditional control
methods are infeasible, ineffective or not economical. Furthermore,
with the proliferation of drive-by-wire technologies, advances
in sensory, navigation, and wireless communication infrastructure,
vehicle controls can now take advantage of the information regarding
the state of an environment and a driver, implementing functionalities
that are commonly referred to as intelligent. The goal of this
workshop is to bring together representatives from academia, industry
and government agencies to exchange ideas on state of the art
intelligent vehicle systems and future trends. We welcome both
theoretical and practical papers, from all areas relevant to application
of computational intelligence in vehicle controls and implementation
of intelligent vehicle functionalities. Specific topics of interest
include, but are not limited to:
- Neural/Fuzzy Controls
- On-board diagnostics
- Active safety systems
- Communication Technologies
- Navigation and Guidance
- Vision-based Applications
- Speech Interface
- Sensor Fusion
- Vehicle application of affective computing
