Figures of WRC 2017

World RobotConference (WRC) 2017 was successfully concluded at Beijing EtrongInternational Exhibition & Convention Center on Aug. 27th. Duringthe high-profile annual conference, entrepreneurs, experts and scholars, together with representatives of international organizations, investment andfinancing institutions from global robotic industries, put forward many newideas, insights and plans around the theme of Win-Win Collaborative Innovation toward the Building of anIntelligent Society. WRC 2017served as a platform for cross-border interactions, and played a positive rolein promoting robotic development.

WRC 2017attracted the presence of 15 industry organizations and over 300 famed roboticsspecialists from many countries and regions. Its 37 presentations, threesummits and 20 thematic forums were attended by 20,000 guests and live streamedto over 6.8 million viewers. In a 50,000m2 area, well-knownrobot manufacturers from 10 countries and regions presented their advancedproducts, including the eMotion Dragonfly and Jellyfish, intelligentcollaborative robots, bio-inspired quadruped robots and emotional robots, attractingmore than 255,000 audiences. Upwards of 4,500 contestants from 1,017 teams fromten countries and regions entered for the five World Robot Contests (WRCC) in2017, namely ChinaDrone Racing, BCI Controlled Robot Contest, Robot Combat Competition, YouthDesign Contest, and the 1st China USV Open. The aggregate number ofWRCC contestants has hit 12,000. WRC 2017 also established a cooperation platform for enterprisesand institutes, which platform witnessed the conclusion of 80 businesscontracts worth some RMB 8 billion. WRC 2017 was covered by nearly 700on-the-scene reporters from 350 domestic and foreign media agencies.

WRC 2017showcased three new industrial trends: first, increasing integration ofrobotics with AI and other emerging technologies; second, diversifying robotic applicationscenarios which deepen the ties between service robots and peoples lives; third, quickening stepstowards global collaborative innovation and co-opetition, with robotics as apriority of major countries.

The closingceremony celebrated the release of seven social organization standards onrobotics covering two major types of robots, along with the Initiative on Global Cooperation andDevelopment of Intelligent Robots and the Outlook on Top 10 Most Promised Robotic Technologies (2017-2018).

The seven socialorganization standards on robotics include: Space Robots General TechnicalRequirements, Space Robot Ground Test Requirements, General TechnicalRequirement of Vision Measuring System of Space Robots Under Visible Lights,Ground Test Requirements of Position Measuring Accuracy of Space Robots UnderVisible Lights, General Design Rules of Fiber Core Exchange Robots,Communication Protocol Format Specification of Fiber Core Exchange Robots,Technical Requirements and Test Methods for Fiber Core Exchange Robots. Thestandards provide a direction for the research and industrialization ofrobotics. The industrial standardization not only gives a new objective and impetusfor our countrys roboticsindustry, but also boosts exchanges and cooperation in the global market.

TheInitiative on Global Cooperation andDevelopment of Intelligent Robots stands to promote sustainable and healthytechnological and industrial development of global intelligent robots, to builda new ecology where the world intelligent robotic industries developcollaboratively and innovatively, and to create a new driving force of economicgrowth for all countries. Through six proposals including collaboration andsharing, standards improvements, and awareness enhancement, the Initiative gavea detailed analysis and plan for robotic development, which would furtherpromote the healthy and orderly development of the robotic industry.

The Outlook on Top10 Most Promised Robotic Technologies (2017-2018) is the outcome of theCommittee of Experts of the World Robotic Conference after over 10 times ofin-depth researches and exchanges. It sorted out ten most promised robotictechnologies by systematically analyzing full and accurate data frominternationally renowned consultancies and authoritative industry associationsand examining dynamics and evolution of robotic technologies in recent years. They are flexible robot, liquid metal control, myoelectricity control, sensitive tactile, conversational intelligent interaction, emotion recognition,Brain-Computer Interface, automatic drive, VR and robotic cloud service. Thisdocument will be the strategic framework leading the cutting-edge technologiesand boosting the robot industry.

The five-dayconference carried the technology-based dreams of innovation andentrepreneurship, displayed the fruitful achievements of global technicalsectors, and brought together the unforgettable moments of robotic industriesand intelligent society across the globe. It built a communication platform forenterprises, universities, institutes and practitioners from all walks of lifeto discuss, cooperate, and achieve win-win results. It also created newopportunities to strategize domestic robotic industry and to transform and upgrademanufacturing.
