The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is worldwide technical professional society devoted to advancing the theory and application of electrical engineering, electronics and computing. The IEEE serves engineers, scientists and other professionals in approximately 150 countries. It is the world's largest technical professional society. The Institute believes that by promoting the free exchange of technology information, members can advancing themselves and their profession, as well as contribute to general public understanding about the importance of electrical, electronics and computer science/engineering. To carry out its technical and public missions, the IEEE offers a host of publications, conferences and educational programs.

IEEE Gujarat Section

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers popularly known as IEEE, founded in 1884 by Thomas Alva Edison, is the world’s largest nonprofit, technical professional association with more than 386,000 individual members in 150 countries. The world is divided into 10 IEEE Regions. IEEE Gujarat Section is one of the 10 Sections in India coming under Asia-Pacific Region, the Region 10 of IEEE. It has two associated Society chapters, namely, the Computer Society Chapter and the Joint Chapter on Industry Applications, Industrial Electronics and Power Electronics Societies. The Section has 8 Student Branches, namely Gujarat University Student Branch, Ahmedabad, M.S. University Student Branch, Baroda, Nirma Institute of Technology Student Branch, Ahmedabad, DA-IICT Student Branch, Gandhinagar, U.V.P.C.E. Student Branch, Mehsana, ADIT Student Branch, V.V.Nagar, GCET Student Branch, V.V.Nagar and ISTAR Student Branch V.V.Nagar. The section has successfully organized many International and National Conference including CNIW 1998, ADCOM-2004, SPCTS-2003, 2005 and 2006. SPCTS-2006 was held during 26-28 February 2006 at ADIT Engg. College., V.V.Nagar
