Institute of Science & Technology for Advanced Studies and Research, abbreviated as ISTAR, is established as a center of quality education offering exclusively post-graduation in science and technology. The Institute has been established by Charutar Vidya Manda (CVM), an educational society.

CVM has a mission of reinvigorating society through quality education. Since 1947 CVM has established over 38 institutions proving itself highly responsive to the changing socio-economic environment by venturing into various emerging disciplines under the continuous dynamic leadership of Late Shri Bhaikaka, Late Shri Bhikhabhai Saheb, Late shri H.M. Patel (ICS retired) and presently of Dr. C.L.Patel, the present Chairman of CVM. ISTAR is thriving under the patronage of CVM. ISTAR is providing more than 20 postgraduate courses in the vital areas of science and technology including M.E (Electronics & Communications) and Transportatation Engineering.

It is recognized by the Sardar Patel Univeristy, Vallabh Vidyanagar as an institution of higher education and research.
