CALL FOR PAPERS

The 2010 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, IAS 2010, will address the technical interests related to industrial applications of electrical energy. Papers are solicited on this subject, especially studies pertaining to the scope of the participating Technical Committees of the IEEE Industry Applications Society, as listed below. Abstracts and digests (or full papers in the case of the Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Department) should be submitted to the relevant Technical Committee Program Chair.

The conference is also interested in general submissions which, while within the general scope of industrial applications of electric energy, do not constitute a good apparent fit with any of the topics below. For those situations, see "General applications".

Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Department

Papers are solicited that relate to: the control, monitoring, and management of electrical energy systems, including power generation systems, for use in industrial, commercial, and institutional facilities; the design, equipment application, analysis, installation, grounding, operation, and maintenance of safe and reliable power systems, including emergency and standby systems, for industrial, commercial, and institutional facilities; power system protection; and, electrical codes, rules, guides and standards affecting the design, installation or maintenance of these industrial and commercial electrical power systems.

Full papers (not abstracts and digests) submitted to: Technical Committee Program Chair: David Mills, 141 Avondale Drive, Augusta, GA 30907-400 USA, 706-399-2554, email d.mills@ieee.org.

Manufacturing Systems Development and Applications Department

Industrial Automation and Control Committee

Papers are solicited that address the applications of industrial electrical and electronic control devices, systems, and methods to the conversion, regulation and utilization of electricity for the control of industrial processes, machinery and heating; methods of advanced and intelligent controls and motion control systems; and, advanced sensors and monitoring systems.

Abstracts and digests should be sent to: Technical Committee Program Chair: Prof. Marcelo Godoy Simoes, Colorado School of Mines, 1610 Illinois St., Golden, CO 80401-1887, USA, tel: 303-384-2350, email msimoes@mines.edu.

Deadlines and Format

Authors' Deadlines

January 15, 2010: Abstract and digest of proposed papers from authors received by the Technical Committee Program Chairs. Full papers received by the Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Department.

March 31, 2010: Notification to authors of acceptance or rejection from Technical Committee Program Chairs. Authors' information received by authors of papers selected for presentation from the Annual Meeting Technical Program Coordinator.

May 5, 2010: Authors will receive via e-mail their paper number(s) and paper uploading instructions.

June 15, 2010 (postponed from original June 1): Complete all items on the Author Checklist. It should be noted that this is a firm deadline and that the processing of late papers will not be possible.

General Abstract & Digest Requirements:

  • one page abstract of fifty to one hundred words with fully headed paper title, names of all authors, area of interest, and name and address of the corresponding author, including phone, fax, and e-mail address (e-mail address required).
  • digest of up to four pages, including key equations, figures, and tables, headed by the paper title only. The digest must state: purpose of work, manner in which it advances engineering and/or science, and specific results and their significance in sufficient detail for undergoing a review process.
  • Electronic submissions only (Adobe Postscript (.pdf) or Microsoft Word (.doc)). As the digest is used for anonymous reviews, the digest should not include the authors' names, and the abstract and digest must be submitted as two separate files.

Each paper that is scheduled for presentation must be accompanied by a qualified paid registration. Student registrations are not considered qualified registrations. A paper which is not presented in person by one of the authors or a designated alternate will not be included in the IEEE Xplore record of the Conference. Presented papers are eligible for review and publication in the IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications or IEEE Industry Applications Magazine.
