Electromagnetic Modeling
An integral equation based approach named Equivalence Principle and Connection Scheme (EPACS) is developed and applied to analyze the scattering problem of multilayer structure with periodical inclusion. The effective medium theory is applied to find the effective constitutive parameter of the structure. Testing structures are designed, fabricated and tested on printed circuit boards (PCB). Good agreement has been achieved between the theory and experiment.
The shielded microstrip, metal strip grating on grounded dielectric slab and doubly periodic structures in layered medium have many applications in microwave and optical engineering such as IC interconnects, leaky wave antenna, phased array, meta-material, frequency selective surfaces, photonic crystal slabs, etc.. We also developed fast and efficient algorithms to evaluate the periodic Green's function needed to solve the problem with integral method.
