Anniversary Event Home Evening Program

Program

6:00pm - 7:30pm Reception in the Promenade. At the event, you and your spouse or companion will enjoy the following:
  • Live Robofest "Hexapod" Sumo Robot Competition demonstration organized by Prof. C.J. Chung
  • IEEE USA President and IEEE Region 4 Director. See also the reception section below.
  • Reception and networking, Meet the keynote speaker
The reception will include hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. Extra time has been allotted for networking and mingling.
7:30pm - 8:30pm Once in a Lifetime! Dinner in the exclusive Museum Plaza.
8:10pm - 8:15pm Presentation of the 100th Anniversary Banner to the Section by IEEE USA President Ron Jensen and Region 4 Director Jim Riess, presented to Section Chair Kimball Williams.
8:15pm - 9:15pm Entertaining non-technical lecture by the IEEE History Center Director, Dr. Michael Geselowitz, presenting electronics and electrical history of the past 100 years in Anderson Theater
9:15pm - 11pm Evening in the The Henry Ford Museum (included)

Reception

The reception will be held in the exclusive Prechter Promenade, reserved only for events like ours that take place in the Museum Plaza.

Network during the reception with the keynote speaker and following special guests:

Our keynote speaker is Dr. Michael Geselowitz, Staff Director of the IEEE History Center. Mike holds S.B. degrees in electrical engineering and in anthropology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology , and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in anthropology from Harvard University.

Keynote Speaker

Ron Jensen
2011 IEEE USA President
Ron Jensen is the IEEE USA President. Ron is a Past Region Director for IEEE Region 4. Ron received the BSEE from Iowa State University and MSEE from Syracuse University. He recently retired as Chief Engineering Manager at IBM. Ron is a member of Eta Kappa Nu and PMI, and a certified PMP. He is a member of the IEEE Computer Society, Technology Management Council and WIE.
Jim Riess is the IEEE Region 4 Director. Jim has served as IEEE RAB Vice Chair of Student Activities, RAB Student Activities Committee Chair, and as Region 4 Student Activities Chair, where he revitalized the Region 4 Student Activities Program. He has served in many volunteer positions in the IEEE Twin Cities Section, including Setion Chair.
