Conference Home About Us
The IEEE Nanotechnology Council (NTC) is a multi-disciplinary group whose purpose is to advance and coordinate work in the field of Nanotechnology carried out throughout the IEEE in scientific, literary and educational areas. The Council supports the theory, design, and development of nanotechnology and its scientific, engineering, and industrial applications. The IEEE Nanotechnology Council is part of Division I - Circuits and Devices and is made up of 21 member IEEE societies:
The IEEE Robotics and Automation Society is interested in applied and theoretical issues in robotics and automation, where robotics includes intelligent machines and systems used, and automation includes the use of automated methods in various applications, for example, factory, office, home, laboratory automation, or transportation systems to improve performance and productivity. The IEEE Education Society promotes Educational Methods, Educational Technology, Instructional Materials, History of Science and Technology, and Educational and Professional Development Programs within Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and allied disciplines. These entities are three of several dozen IEEE technical societies and councils. The Nanotechnology Council, the Robotics and Automation Society, and the Education Society maintain local chapters in dozens of cities around the world. These local chapters host meetings, seminars, and workshops on technical topics throughout the year. For a complete list of chapters, visit the NTC web page the RAS web page, or the ED web page. |
About Southeastern Michigan
This conference is one of two yearly local Section Conferences presented by the Southeastern Michigan (SEM) Section of IEEE. Read a review of the past Spring 2009 Section Conference . Detroit is the major city in Southeastern Michigan. However, the IEEE Section covers ten counties in southeastern Michigan and Ontario.
Major cities include: Windsor, Ontario; Ann Arbor, Michigan; and Lansing, Michigan which is the State Capitol. We are the only U.S.A. IEEE Section that extends outside the U.S. |
Universities
We are home to many colleges and universities. Ten of them have engineering programs and sponsor IEEE student branches.

IEEE Organization
Our technical society chapters and their respective parent technical socieities are part of the IEEE Technical Activities Board (MGA). Our Section is part of the IEEE Member and Geographic Activities (MGA) Board. Our Section is in IEEE Region 4. The IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional society with more than 360,000 members in more than 150 countries. It includes members who are practicing engineers, researchers, engineering professors, entrepreneurs, consultants, business owners and chief executives. |
