| | Regional Activities
Regional activities are one of the most important links between the society
and the members. Chapters and the VP chair are responsible for setting up events
so that members can benefit from them.
The following is a list of the main activities in Region 9
- CAS Tour
-
This is an event where two or three lecturers travel to a
country in the region, delivering talks. In general, the VP
chair can partially support two travelers (of Region 9) to a given
country, with a maximum of three countries per year.
- Conferences and Workshops
-
There's a number of conferences and workshops that are
periodically organized in Latin America with the support of CAS
Society. The society is very interested in supporting new events. To
explore further in how to get CAS sponsorship for a conference or
workshop, see:
- Technical Meetings
-
These might include short courses, lectures, etc., that can be
setup by the local chapter chair, or by a student IEEE branch. It's
not necessary to have a "celebrity" to organize a technical
meeting. A professor, a member of the industry or academia, even a PhD
or Masters student can be invited to give a lecture sharing his
experiences on a certain topic.
- Others
-
The CAS Society is open to new initiatives all the time. For
example, chapters can motivate students and members to participate in
technical competitions, offering prizes.
-
Please, contact you chapter chair or the regional VP if you
want to share some new ideas.
