Introductions
| Nine years ago, on June 15, 1999, the
foundation of IEEE-IIEE Student Branch was laid by a group of students
in an effort to establish an active student body which can contribute
towards the development of Industrial Electronics technology. To do
more with less resources was indeed a great challenge but the team with
its innovative ideas and timely assistance from Mr. Ashab Mirza, our
Branch Councilor, was successful in constituting the Student Branch.

Since its inception, the Branch has proved to be one of the most active Student Branches in Pakistan. The IIEE-IEEE Student Branch regularly arranges technical activities for the members that are focused on advancing their know-how and general technical standing as electronic engineers. Keeping in view the age of our fledgling branch, our achievements have been enormous. Since its inauguration in 1999, IIEE-IEEE has taken giant leaps in these few years. Each year we make our presence felt by arranging a Country level Student Conference "e-Indus", a technical seminar in which students from many Engineering Universities come up with their expertise by displaying their projects on a variety of subjects. More than 300 Professionals, Entrepreneurs and Industrialists attend this conference .Go to the E-Indus2009 Section under E-Indus for more details regarding this year's e-Indus Conference.This year IEEE is celebrating its Platinumized-Silver Jubliee, therefore IIEE-IEEE e-Indus 2009 has become a special event.

The Students Branch
The Student Branch of the IEEE is an integral part of IEEE that serves the geographic zone where the university is located. Its management is made by a Directive Staff, which organizes and performs all the activities inside the university in coordination with the Section; a Mentor, a Counselor, and, of course, the student members. Eventually, a group of student members (minimum 12) interested in a specific area of electro-technology can form what is called a Technical Chapter. This aggregation may organize more specific activities like: investigations, projects development, technical publications, and many more as they can imagine.
Genesis
IIEE-IEEE Student Branch was formed on June 15, 1999. Inaugural ceremony of the newly formed IIEE-IEEE Student Branch was held on the August 25, 1999. The Chief Guest of the occasion was the Chairman IEEE Karachi Section, Mr. Muhammad N. Sheriff.
IIEE-IEEE Student Branch was the only second IEEE student branch to be founded in the town, NED-UET Student Branch being the first IEEE Student Branch to be formed in Karachi. At that time, there were around fifty student members and a full member in faculty (Mr. Ashab Mirza, Associate Professor & Chief Co-Ordinator), who is also the IEEE Student Branch Counselor at IIEE.
