Workshop “How to Get ‘A’ In Final Years Project”

Department of Electric and Electronic Engineering UPM with cooperation with IEEESB UPM has organized IEEESB Workshop entitled “How to Get ‘A’ In Final Year Project” on 11^th July 2004.This workshop was holding at Faculty of Engineering UPM and four lecturers from Department of Electric and Electronic Engineer UPM were invited as a speakers. The second and third year students of Electric and Electronic Engineering and Department of System Computer and Communication were involved. Lecturers invited are all from our department itself. They are: 

1)     Dr Hamiruce Marhaban

• Fulltime lecturer, specialized in control engineering and robotics.

2)     Dr. Roslina Abd. Sidek

•  Teach microelectronic subjects with years pf experiences.

3)     Associate Prof. Ir. Dr. Norman B. Mariun

•   Former head of department EE, now appointed as Deputy Dean of Research at Taculty of engineering. Years of experiences as advisor or evaluating final year projects.

4)     Dr. Shamsul Bahri B. Mohd Noor

•  Newly appointed Head of department EE, specialize in control engineering.

            The objectives of this workshop are to give students experience and training in design techniques, collecting data, analysis data, finding the problem solution and learn how to prepare the final year project. The student also exposed for finding sources for determining if their topic is too harrow, and for scaling their project to a manageable amount. Besides that, this workshop is an attempt to give some guidelines on how to write a good technical paper and to make good presentation, important skill for a successful report in final year project, All the students have given full attention while the speakers had given their talk.

            The useful tips have been given to help the students track and summarize information so that it becomes useful for the students to make well their final year project. Hopefully, this workshop will help the student to get a ‘jump start’ on a good writing and presentation of their final year project so that their will get ‘A’ in their final year project.
