Tony Parsons, Ph.D., P.E., Square D/Schneider Electric Engineering Services

Bio:

Tony Parsons is a Principal Engineer for Square D's Power System Engineering group in Austin, TX. He has been with Square D for 8+ years, and is responsible for providing a wide range of consulting services for Square D's commercial, industrial, and institutional clients. Tony has extensive experience in performing arc-flash studies, and is a member of the IEEE P1584 working group on Arc Flash calculations. He is a licensed engineer in the state of Texas.

   
Presentation:

Overview of the Arc Flash Hazard
As industry awareness and understanding of the potential hazards of electrical arc flash events has increased, interest in analyzing and controlling the hazard has grown along with it. This presentation will provide discussion of several arcflash related issues, including an introduction to the problem, requirements in NFPA 70E and other relevant standards, arc-flash analysis, arc-flash mitigation, and future directions in arc-flash safety.
