The PAN-Robots project aims to improve the technology for the design and deployment of robotic fleets to the warehouse management in smart factories. In fact, today, automation is only marginally applied to factory logistics. The use of manual forklifts results in low efficiency and high energy consumption. Furthermore, the operation of forklifts is not safe for workers. Automatic guided vehicles (AGVs) is an emerging technology in this area, but there are still many weak points to solve, such as safety, cost, flexibility, etc. The PAN-Robots consortium is developing new technologies to improve the technology of AGV for smart factories in terms of higher flexibility, cost efficient logistics, low energy consumption, enhanced work safety, decrease installation and set-up time.
