Prof. Biao Huang, University of Alberta, Canada (IEEE Fellow)

Bio: Biao Huang obtained his PhD degree in Process Control from the University of Alberta, Canada, in 1997. He had MSc degree (1986) and BSc degree (1983) in Automatic Control from the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He joined the University of Alberta in 1997 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, and is currently a Full Professor and NSERC Senior Industrial Research Chair. He is an IEEE Fellow, Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, Fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada, and recipient of a number of awards including Germany’s Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship, APEGA Summit Award in Research Excellence, ASTech Outstanding Achievement in Science and Engineering Award and a best paper award from the Journal of Process Control. Biao Huang’s research interests include: process data analytics, machine learning, system identification, image processing, fault detection and isolation, and soft sensors. He has applied his expertise extensively in industrial practice. He has published 5 books and over 390 SCI journal papers. Biao Huang currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief for IFAC Journal Control Engineering Practice, Subject Editor for Journal of the Franklin Institute, and Associate Editor for Journal of Process Control.

Prof. Li Youfu, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong

Bio: You-Fu Li received the PhD degree in robotics from the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford in 1993. From 1993 to 1995 he was a research staff in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, UK. He joined City University of Hong Kong in 1995 and is currently professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. His research interests include robot sensing, robot vision, and visual tracking. In these areas, he has published over 300 papers including over 150 SCI listed journal papers. He has served as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering (T-ASE), Associate Editor and Guest Editor for IEEE Robotics and Automation Magazine(RAM), and Editor for CEB, IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA).

 
Prof. Xuebo Zhang, Nankai University, China

Bio: Dr. Xuebo Zhang received the B.Eng. degree in Automation from Tianjin University in 2006, China, and the Ph. D. degree in Control Theory and Control Engineering from Nankai University in 2011, China. From July 2011, he joined the Institute of Robotics and Automatic Information Systems (IRAIS), Nankai University, China. He is currently a full Professor, and he serves the deputy head of IRAIS and also the deputy head of Tianjin Key Laboratory of Intelligent Robotics (TJKLIR), Nankai University, China. His research interests include planning and control of autonomous robotic and mechatronic systems with focus on time-optimal planning and visual servo control; intelligent perception including robot vision, visual sensor networks, SLAM, etc. He is a Technical Editor of IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics and an Associate Editor for ASME Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement and Control.

 
Prof. dr hab. Teresa Zielińska, Warsaw University of Technology, Poland

Bio: Full professor in technical sciences, deputy-director of the Institute of Aeronautics and Applied Mechanics of Warsaw University of Technology (WUT). She is a member of the Committee of Automatic Control and Robotics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, vice-chair of the Polish IEEE Robotics and Automation Section (2016-2019) and Secretary General of International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science (IFToMM) (2011-2019).
She is the local coordinator of international program European Master of Advanced Robotics (EMARO), member of the Team of Experts of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (2017-2018) and member of the Council of National Science Center (2019-2022). She has conducted research in several universities: Politechnic University of Turin (within a grant awarded by the Italian Ministry of Education), Loughborough University of Technology (Great Britain, grant awarded by the Science and Engineering Research Council), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) – employed as a senior fellow. Visiting professor at: National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Griffith University (Brisbane, Australia), Keio University (Hiyoshi, Japan), Shanghaji Jiaotong University (Shanghai, China), Tianjin University of Technology (China). She is a co-recipient of 2 national patents and author or co-author of over 300 publications.
Her research interest concerns robotics, in that development of real-time control systems, motion synthesis and design of novel robotic systems. Teresa Zielinska also works on walking machines, humanoids and mobile robots. She developed a sensor prototype for measuring shear forces and the control system for the team of autonomous walking machines. Currently she focuses on bio-robotics. She is a member of the editorial boards of several national and international journals. She managed or participated in national, European and international research grants.

 
Prof. Giuseppe Carbone, DIMEG-University of Calabria, Italy

Bio: Giuseppe Carbone has got his PhD degree in Robotics from the University of Cassino, Italy, in 2004. He had BSc degree, MSc degree (2000) in Mechanical Engineering and Robotics from the University of Cassino where he has been Assistant Professor and Key Member of the Laboratory of Robotics and Mechatronics (LARM) for about 15 years. He has been visiting professor at Universidad Carlos III of Madrid, Beihang University, Waseda University and several other well-reputed International Research Institutions. From 2018 he is Visiting professor at Sheffield Hallam University, UK where he served as Senior Lecturer and member of the Executive board of Sheffield Robotics on 2015-2017. Currently, he is Associate Professor at University of Calabria, Italy and Chair of IFToMM TC on Robotics and Mechatronics, Member of the board of directors of ISBE, Treasurer of the IFToMM Italy Member Organization, Editor-in-Chief of Robotica Journal (Cambridge Univ. Press), Section EIC of Journal of Bionic Engineering, MDPI Robotics, MDPI Machines, Technical Editor of IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics. He published over 350 research paper outputs. He has been PI or co-PI of more than 20 projects including 7th European Framework and H2020 funds. He has received more than 20 Best Paper awards and more than 10 International Best Patent awards.
