Prof. Makoto Iwasaki, IEEE Fellow
 Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan

Biography: Makoto Iwasaki received the B.S., M.S., and Dr. Eng. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from Nagoya Institute of Technology, Nagoya, Japan, in 1986, 1988, and 1991, respectively. Since 1991, he has been with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Nagoya Institute of Technology, where he is currently a Professor at the Department of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
As professional contributions of the IEEE, he has been an AdCom member of the Industrial Electronics Society in term of 2010 to 2019, a Technical Editor for IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics from 2010 to 2014, an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics since 2014, a Management Committee member of IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics (Secretary in 2016 and Treasurer in 2017), a Co-Editors-in-Chief for IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics since 2016, a Vice President for Planning and Development in term of 2018 to 2019, respectively. He is IEEE fellow class 2015 for "contributions to fast and precise positioning in motion controller design". He has received the Best Paper Award of Trans of IEE Japan in 2013, the Best Paper Award of Fanuc FA Robot Foundation in 2011, the Technical Development Award of IEE Japan in 2017, The 3rd Nagamori Awards in 2017, The 50th Ichimura Prize in Industry for Excellent Achievement in 2018, and the Technology Award of the Japan Society for Precision Engineering in 2018, respectively.
His current research interests are the applications of control theories to linear/nonlinear modeling and precision positioning, through various collaborative research activities with industries.


Prof. Chia-Feng Juang, IEEE Fellow
 National Chung-Hsing University, Taiwan

Biography: Chia-Feng Juang received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Control Engineering from the National Chiao-Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1993 and 1997, respectively. Since 2001, he has been with the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Chung-Hsing University (NCHU), Taichung, Taiwan, where he became a Full Professor in 2007 and has been a Distinguished Professor since 2009. He served as the Chapter Chair of IEEE Computational Intelligence, Taipei Chapter, in 2017-2018, during which the chapter won the Outstanding Chapter Award from IEEE Taipei Session.
Dr. Juang has authored or coauthored 100 journal papers (including over 55 IEEE journal papers), nine book chapters, and over 120 conference papers. His current research interests include computational intelligence, intelligent control, computer vision, and evolutionary robots. Five of his highly-cited papers have collected 1900+ citations in Web of Science and 3000+ citations in Google Scholar.
Dr. Juang received the Outstanding Youth Award from Taiwan System Science and Engineering Society, Taiwan, in 2010; the Excellent Research Award from NCHU, Taiwan, in 2010; the Outstanding Youth Award from Taiwan Fuzzy Systems Association, Taiwan, in 2014; and the Outstanding Automatic Control Engineering Award from Chinese Automatic Control Society (CACS), Taiwan, in 2014. He was elevated to CACS Fellow in 2016 and IEEE Fellow in 2019. He is an Associate Editor of the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON FUZZY SYSTEMS, the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON CYBERNETICS, the Asian Journal of Control, and the Journal of Information Science and Engineering and an Area Editor of the International Journal of Fuzzy Systems.


Prof. Wei-Hsin Liao
 The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong

Biography: Wei-Hsin Liao received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, USA. Since August 1997, Dr. Liao has been with The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), where he is now Chairman and Professor of Mechanical and Automation Engineering. His research interests include smart structures, vibration control, energy harvesting, mechatronics, and medical devices. His research has led to publications of over 240 technical papers in international journals and conference proceedings, 16 patents in US, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea. He was the Conference Chair for the 20th International Conference on Adaptive Structures and Technologies in 2009; the Active and Passive Smart Structures and Integrated Systems, SPIE Smart Structures/NDE in 2014 and 2015. He is a recipient of the T A Stewart-Dyer/F H Trevithick Prize 2005, the ASME 2008 Best Paper Award in Structures, the ASME 2017 Best Paper Award in Mechanics and Material Systems, and three Best Paper Awards in the IEEE conferences. At CUHK, he received the Research Excellence Award (2011), and was awarded Outstanding Fellow of the Faculty of Engineering (2014). He received the SPIE 2018 SSM Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Liao currently serves as an Associate Editor for Mechatronics, Journal of Intelligent Material Systems and Structures, as well as Smart Materials and Structures. Dr. Liao is a Fellow of ASME, HKIE, and IOP.
