About Conference Site

HRI 2016 will take place at the Chateau on the Park (https://www.chateau-park.co.nz/), a lovely hotel situated on 5 acres of tranquil gardens in the centre of Christchurch.

Just across from the Chateau is Hagley park, a 164 hectare park with running and biking tracks, netball courts, rugby pitches, a golf course, cricket ground, and various cultural events throughout the year.

In addition, the Chateau is within walking distance of many restaurants and shopping sites on Riccarton Road. The hotel lies only 20 minutes from Christchurch International Airport.

About Christchurch, New Zealand

Christchurch is the second largest city in New Zealand. It is located in the center of the South Island. The city lies on the Canterbury Plains, which extend westward to the Southern Alps, and on eastward to the Pacific Ocean.

Just around the city you can hike in the beautiful Port Hills and Banks Peninsula, explore the towns of Akaroa and Lyttleton, take a gondola ride for a panoramic view of the Canterbury plains, or punt the Avon river that runs through the centre of the city!

Within two hours of the Christchurch airport lie stunning landscapes and adventures. Just north of Christchurch is the Kaikoura peninsula where you can whale watch, swim with wild dolphins, view albatross, and seal colonies

Just 1.5 hours west of Christchurch lies Arthur’s pass, the opening to the Southern Alps with innumerable hiking and biking trails.

For the adventurous, try bungy jumping, sky diving, surfing, kayaking, paragliding, and rafting! For the less adventurous, sit back and enjoy wine tasting from local vineyards, lay on the beach, stroll through the public gardens and parks, or check out the local shops and scenes emerging from the earthquake rebuild!
