Abstract:
At the end of 2010, the Science and Technology Advisory Group of the Executive Yuan of Taiwan held the "Intelligent Automation Industry Development Strategy Planning Meeting," which brought together representatives of industry, government, academia, and research to discuss the industrial automation trend required for Taiwan, ROC in response to industrial upgrading and wages rising. The meeting also concluded that ROC government would invest money in conducting R&D plans and strategies to assist domestic industries to develop key intelligent automation technologies for facilitating the industries to be service-oriented and creating new intellectual values for the industries. To this end, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of ROC is executing the ¡§Advanced Intelligent Automation Technology Development¡¨ policy and sponsoring the following eight indicative integrated research projects of Advanced Intelligent Automation Technology: 1) Advanced Controller for Robot Manipulator, 2) A Full-field and High-precision Automated Optical Inspection and Cloud-based System for the In-line Detection of Surface Profile and Defects, 3) Development of Intelligent Manufacturing System and Inspection Technology For Optical Small Elements, 4) Intelligent Manufacturing Cloud, 5) Reconfigurable Intelligent Precision Robotic Machining Machine, 6) Research and Development of Micro Additive Manufacturing System Using Direct Light Projector, 7) Development of an Intellectualized Symmetric High-Speed Dual-Spindle Grinding Machine and Study on LED Probe Speedy Grinding, and 8) Next-Generation Multi-Function Intelligent Nursing Care System, aimed at leveraging academia¡¦s research capacities to assist domestic industries to cross the thresholds of upgrading and create new-generation industrial values. These projects covers four domains: 1) intelligent manufacturing systems, 2) opto-mechatronics systems & inspection technology, 3) intelligent robots, and 4) intelligent medical & health care systems, which closely relate to the following topics of CASE 2014: Foundations of Automation, Life Science and Health Care, Automation in Micro-scale, Manufacturing Automation, Industrial Informatics, Cloud Computing for Manufacturing Automation, Automation for Machine Tools, and Robotics & Control. The purpose of this workshop is to demonstrate the first-year research results of these eight indicative integrated research projects.
