The First International Workshop on Online Social Networks Technologies (OSNT - 2015)
The explosion of the Internet helps the social networking concept to become real, and to be a tool to connect people worldwide in ways that were previously impossible. The Internet’s first generation (Web 1.0) consisted of static pages instead of dynamic HTML, and the presented content to the user is served from a server's file system instead of a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS). The second generation (Web 2.0) encouraged users to share information and interact and collaborate with each other by posting their user-generated contents in virtual communities. The development of Web 2.0 allowed many new social networking sites to flourish such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google Plus+, Tumblr, Instagram, VK, Flickr, Vine, and many others. Such Online Social Networks (OSN) provide a wealth of raw data that is invaluable to governments, companies, universities, etc. The large scale of such networks presents a challenge to providers just to keep them running smoothly. It also presents a challenge to researchers wanting to analyze the data collected from such networks. These challenges contributed to the rise of important of important fields such as big data. The objective of this workshop is to provide general guidelines on the current and future trends in online social network technologies. Authors are encouraged to submit their original work, which is not submitted elsewhere, to this workshop. The topics of the workshop include but not limited to:
- Social network analysis (SNA)
- OSN mining
- Security in OSN
- Architecture and growth of OSN
- Social networks visualization and large scale data representation
- OSN and big data
- OSN and SNA tools and services on the Cloud
- Location-based OSN and other geographical aspects of OSN
- Impact of OSN
- Community formation, analysis and detection in OSN
- Anomaly detection in OSN evolution
- Recommender systems and OSN
