Message to Sponsors

The IEEE Kansas City Section and the University of Missouri - Kansas City are proud to host the 2008 IEEE Region 5 P-BASICS2 Technical, Professional and Student Conference. The primary purpose of the 2008 IEEE Region 5 P-BASICS2 Conference is to provide IEEE members the opportunity to network with one another in an environment that will enhance their technical and professional skills. In the tradition of previous conferences, this year’s schedule will comprise the following events:

• April 17th (Thur) – Tutorial
• April 18th (Fri) – Technical Conference and Poster Session
• April 18th (Fri) – Student Professional Awareness Conference, Student Paper Contest and Ethics Competion
• April 19th (Sat) – Technical Conference
• April 19th (Sat) – Region 5 Business Meeting
• April 19th (Sat) – Career Fair, Student Robotics and Circuit Design Competitions
• April 20th (Sun) – Regional Leadership Meetings and Conference Wrap-up

Engineers from all over Region 5 (Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, and parts of New Mexico, Illinois, Wyoming, Nebraska and South Dakota) come to this meeting to enhance and update their professional skills and to network. Student competitions are a significant function at this conference, with robotics and circuits competitions, as well as paper competitions at the undergraduate and graduate level. There were over 300 students at last year's  competition, and we expect to exceed that number significantly! A career fair, targeted towards the students, will be held in the same venue as the student competitions on Saturday. Your corporate sponsorship affords your company cost efficient advertising to professionals working in your market and the opportunity to recruit high quality college students at the job fair. Further, your sponsorship is critical to keeping the cost for student registration affordable so we maximize the number of students who benefit from attending the meeting. In the past, many contributors have made unrestricted gifts to the meeting while others have sponsored a specific speaker, session or function at the meeting. A Sponsor Form (attached) may be used for this purpose, or for exhibiting at the Career Fair.

This conference qualifies as a 501(c)(3) organization, so be assured that your sponsorship will help the students. The Federal Taxpayer Identification Number will be provided upon request. Your help is sincerely appreciated, and we hope to see you at the Conference!

Dr. Ghulam M. Chaudhry
Chairman of the Organizing Committee
