• News: A "Summary Report" of the 2008 IEEE IUS (updated August 12, 2017) is now available. It contains "historical data and statistics" of the IEEE IUS conferences since 1959 and helps people to effectively use the 2008 IEEE IUS conference "DVD proceedings". A shortened report is in the "Calendar of Events". A fillable PDF "Conference Data Collection Form" has been produced for future conference organizers (the form may be filled only after it is downloaded to a computer).
• News: The videos in the "Conference Photos/Videos" were also linked to the "YouTube ieeeIUS Channel" on June 29, 2010. You could click on the video still images or YouTube icon on the "Videos Page" to play the videos (please notice that YouTube may not be available in some countries).
• 405 photos and 14 videos taken during the 2008 IEEE IUS are at: "Conference Photos/Videos" .
  You could also download all the photos as a single PDF file (43.6 MB) (or get a high-resolution subset (80.3 MB)).
• Procedures to access full papers of the conference proceedings can be found at "Sessions (Papers)".

• Thanks for the 1023 attendees (including staff and exhibitors) who have made the 2008 IEEE IUS a success!
• Thanks for authors: 917 abstracts were successfully submitted and reviewed among 1194 total in the system.
• There are 674 abstracts in the "Full Program (Book)", and "Abstract Book" (Invited: 24; Student Competition: 21).
• There are 553 papers in Proceedings ("Paper Submission" is now closed for both regular and multimedia papers).

Volunteers for IEEE UFFC-S: IEEE IUS conferences are sponsored by the IEEE UFFC Society (UFFC-S). The Society relies on volunteers for its administration, governance, publications, and conferences. General Chair Message

Welcome to Beijing!

The 2008 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS) will be held in the Beijing International Convention Center (BICC), Beijing, China, from November 2-5, 2008. This will be the first time the IUS goes to Beijing, the capital of China. Beijing is a city of a long history and a great culture. It has served as the capital of China for long periods of times. Therefore, Beijing will be a great tourist attraction for the conference attendees and their guests besides the technical program. As we know, the 2008 Summer Olympics and Paralympics will be held in Beijing in August and September 2008, respectively. Beijing is preparing for this event by building and improving a lot of infrastructure and cleaning up the environment, and is welcoming hundreds of thousands of visitors. Thus, Beijing will become more beautiful after the Olympics. The 2008 IEEE IUS will take advantage of the improved transportation and vastly increased hotel capacity of Beijing after the Olympics. The BICC is located within the Olympic Complex and thus will be convenient for the conference attendees to visit the complex.

The 2008 IEEE IUS will also bring together more closely the ultrasonics communities around the world with the communities of China and East Asia to further the research and development of ultrasonics theories and applications. The 2008 IEEE IUS is expected to be another success in the history of this annual conference that started in the early 1960s and has grown to have more than 1000 attendees in recent years.
