IEEE Orlando Section ExCom and Holiday Get-Together Meeting at Red Lobster

Date: Tuesday, December 19th, 2017

Cost: Meeting attendance is free to all IEEE members and Non-IEEE members.

2017 IEEE Orlando Section Annual Election

Welcome to the 2017 IEEE Orlando Section Annual Election! We would like to take this opportunity to personally express our sincere appreciation for you being an IEEE member!

Our duty and responsibility is to ensure that your voting rights are protected and you are confident that your vote is accurately cast and tabulated. We will utilize the vTools.Voting system for our elections. Please log in to vote in the election.

Voting started on 17 November 2017 at 12:00 AM and will close at 17 December 2017 11:59 PM.

Please select one candidate for each position or specify a write-in candidate.

Candidate Names and Details (biography, reasons for running, etc.):

IEEE Orlando Section Chair, 2018 - Debbie Hall: Besides being Valencia College's Energy Management and Controls Technology Program Chair and Electronics Engineering Technology Program Chair within the Division of Engineering, Computer Programming, & Technology, Dr. Hall is a Senior Member of IEEE and the IEEE Orlando Section Vice Chair. She strongly feels that the IEEE Orlando Section is a valuable contributor to our Central Florida community and would like to play an even larger role in further reaching out into our community as the IEEE Orlando Section Chair. Since January of 2001, Dr. Hall has had the honor of teaching at Valencia College within the Division of Engineering, Computer Programming, and Technology. She has been teaching courses which fall under Valencia's Electronics Engineering Technology Associate in Science, Pre-Major Engineering Associate in Arts Degree Program, and the Bachelor of Science in: Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology Degree. Prior to Valencia College, Dr. Hall worked as an electrical engineer for about seven years with theme park ride and show control, electric vehicle battery testing, and solar power feasibility studies. She earned both her Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and her Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Central Florida and earned her Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

IEEE Orlando Section Vice Chair, 2018 - Christopher Nergard : Chris Nergard is a Systems Engineer at Lockheed Martin Missile and Fire Control. He has been a member of IEEE since his freshman year at the University of Central Florida, and served as its chair for four years (2011-2015) while earning a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering and a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, while at the same time working at Tesseract Sensors, designing and building fiber optic sensors. He participated in IEEE SoutheastCon every year placing top ten in the hardware, technical paper, and ethics competition, along with winning the Exemplary Student Branch Award. Since May 2016, he has been serving as Treasurer for the IEEE Orlando Section.

IEEE Orlando Section Secretary, 2018 - Warren Macchi: Warren Macchi is the current IEEE Orlando Section Computer Society Chapter Chair. Warren has been involved in research and IEEE-related activities since receiving an NSF Fellowship during his Research Experience for Undergraduates work at the University of Central Florida in 1994. Through his research in Computer Vision and Computer Graphics he received a Master's in Computer Science from UCF and started a Modeling and Simulation company in 1999. Abamis IT Solutions has been in operation ever since, providing a variety of computer technology solutions for simulation, 3D visualization, mobile, cloud web services, machine learning, and Internet of Things applications. Warren has participated in several IEEE and SISO standardization activities and is a regular participant at the IEEE Orlando Section Executive Committee Meetings. He became an IEEE Senior Member on July 2016.

IEEE Orlando Section Treasurer, 2018 - Genevieve Sapijaszko: Genevieve Sapijaszko is Professor in the college of Engineering Information Sciences at DeVry University. She has been a member of IEEE since 1992; in 1993 she was the student section chair at the University of Calgary in Alberta. She has been an IEEE senior member since 2012. She received a B.Sc. and M.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Calgary in Alberta in 1994, and 2000. She has worked at Volta as a hardware/software Engineer from 1996 to 2000 and worked at DeVry as a faculty since 1997. She was the associate Dean of Labs for one year in 2008-2009. She has authored 3 publications concerning education and digital signal processing
