Member Professional Awareness Conference Committee

1. Works closely with the Regional PACE Coordinator and the Regional Student Professional Awareness Committee Chair
2. Serves as the regional Member Professional Awareness Conference (MPAC) Coordinator.
3. Promotes member professional awareness activities to the sections in the Region by:
  A. Establishing contact with IEEE Sections
  B. Encouraging Sections to conduct MPAC on a two-year cycle
  C. Coordinating efforts with the Section PACE and Student Activities committee Chair
4. Promotes MPAC by:
    A. Attending Regional meetings and making presentations on MPAC (15 minutes minimum)
    B. Targeting sections that have never held an MPAC, and sections that held an MPAC two or more years earlier; calling Section officers.
    C. Writing form letters to selected sections encouraging them to plan MPAC (addressed to Section Chair)
    D. Maintaining contact with Regional PACE Coordinator and other sources of funding for MPAC
    E. Maintaining contact with Regional Section/Chapter Support Coordinator.
    F. Contacting IEEE-USA MPAC chair for Section-related funding issues.
5. Assists Section organizers in MPAC planning and preparation.
  A. MPAC format
  B. Speaker selection (approves the roster of speakers, especially the national-level speakers whose travel is reimbursed by MPAC)
  C. Selection of conference date, avoiding conflict with exams and major campus events.
  D. IEEE interfaces, Section, Area, and Region (requesting/obtaining funds/support, local speakers, general participation, local engineering/industry support)
  E. Publicity techniques
  F. Ticket sales
  G. Interface with Department Chair or Engineering School Dean
  H. Answers questions about:
    - Size of committee and delegation of tasks
    - Faculty reception: participation, classes held at MPAC or canceled
    - Ticket sales: when started, number sold (three weeks before conference)
    - Funding: contacts, problems, expenses
6. Works with Regional PACE Coordinator and Section PACE Chair to ensure that high-quality MPAC speakers are available locally and within the Region.
7. In some Regions, may direct Regional Professional Activities Support Funds specifically allocated for MPAC to sections holding a MPAC to support their operational costs.
8. Reports on MPAC activities as required for the following:
  A. Annual Report to MPAC Chair (calendar year)
  B. Regional PACE Report (from one PACE Workshop to the next)
  C. One MPAC meetings each year
