IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society (AES)


The Society covers the organization, design development, and operation of functional systems for space, air, ocean, and ground environments. These systems include navigation, avionics, mobile power, radar, sonar and automotive test simulators.

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (AP)

The Society covers all areas in: antenna theory, design, applications, and measurements; propagation, electromagnetic, computational techniques, PCs, scattering and diffraction, field interactions; and EM visualization.

IEEE Broadcast Technology Society (BT)

The Society encompasses technologies needed for various broadcasting services. It amalgamates elements of antennas, electronics, power, communications, signal processing, information theory, computers and audio into a broadcasting perspective.

IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (AS)

The Society focuses on the theory, analysis, design, and practical implementation of circuits, and the application of circuit theoretic techniques to systems and signal processing ranging from basic scientific theory to industrial application.

IEEE Communications Society (COM)

The Society embraces the science, engineering, technology, and applications for transferring information by the use of signals: terminals, computers; systems and operations; transmission media; networks, layouts, protocols, and architectures.

IEEE Components, Packaging, and Manufacturing Technology Society (CPMT)

The Society addresses the scientific, engineering, packaging and production aspects of materials, component parts, modules, hybrids, and microelectronic systems for all electronics applications. This includes the technology, selection, modeling and simulation, characterization, application, assembly, interconnection, packaging, handling, thermal management, reliability, testing and control of the above as they apply in design and manufacturing.

IEEE Computer Society (C)

The Society is the leading provider of technical information and services to the world is computing professionals. Areas covered include computer hardware, software, AI, graphics, IT, networking, security, the Internet and more. The Society offers its member's unlimited access to 100 online training courses through its Distance Learning Campus. Subjects include Java, UNIX, Cisco networks, and Windows to name a few. IEEE Consumer Electronics Society (CE)

The Society embraces multimedia entertainment, digital high-definition TV, digital radio, advanced games, and hand-held productivity tools along with traditional areas of audio, radio, TV, VCR, camcorder, and other home and office electronics.

IEEE Control Systems Society (CS)

The interests of the Society range from control system theory to the design and implementation of control systems, encompassing components and their integration in the construction of such systems.

IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (DEI)

The Society covers insulation materials, insulation systems, dielectric phenomena, and discharges in vacuum, gaseous, liquid, and solid electrical materials, and the utilization of dielectric materials in various environmental conditions.

IEEE Education Society (E)

The Society covers educational methods, technology, and professional development programs within the electrical engineering disciplines.

IEEE Electromagnetic Compatibility Society (EMC)


The Society encompasses the design, integration, testing, and analysis of electrotechnology products and systems to control radiated and conducted interference. It strives for EMC enhancement through engineering standards and education.

IEEE Electron Devices Society (ED)

The Society's interest is all aspects of the physics, engineering, theory and phenomena of electron and ion devices such as elemental and compound semiconductor devices, organic and other emerging materials based devices, quantum effect devices, optical devices, displays and imaging devices, photovoltaic, solid-state sensors and actuators, solid-state power devices, high frequency devices, micromechanics, tubes and other vacuum devices.

IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMB)

The Society is interested in the application of the concepts and methods of the physical and engineering sciences to biology and to medicine.

IEEE Engineering Management Society (EM)

The Society's interest spans research, application, and education relating to management sciences and technologies for individuals and organizations engaged in engineering and technological issues.

IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRS)

The Society covers the theory, concepts, and techniques of science and engineering as they apply to the sensing of the earth, oceans, atmosphere, and space; and the processing, interpretation, and dissemination of this information.

IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IE)

The Society encompasses the theory and applications of electronics, controls, communications, instrumentation, and computational intelligence to industrial and manufacturing systems and processes.

IEEE Industry Applications Society (IA)

The Society covers the global design, development, application, and management of electrical and electronic systems, apparatus, devices, and controls for safe, reliable, and economical processes and equipment of industrial and commercial installations.

IEEE Information Theory Society (IT)

The Society encompasses the processing, transmission, storage and use of information, and the foundation of the communications process. It encompasses theoretical and applied aspects of coding, communications and communications networks.

IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society (IM)


The Society is dedicated to developing and using analog and digital electrical and electronic instruments, systems and standards, including transducers and automated controls, to measure, monitor, process and record physical phenomena in time and frequency domains.

IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society (LEO)

The Society encompasses all aspects of opto-electronic and photonic materials, devices, and systems; from research and development, to design and manufacture.

IEEE Magnetics Society (MAG)

The Society encompasses all matters involved in the fundamental development, design, and application of magnetic devices including magnetic materials and phenomena.

IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT)


The Society covers microwave theory, techniques and applications as they relate to components, devices, circuits, sub-systems, and systems involving various aspects of microwave signals in scientific, technical, and industrial activities.

IEEE Neural Networks Society (NNS)

The Society focuses on Computational Intelligence, a collection of biologically and linguistically motivated computational paradigms, including the theory, design, application, and development of neural networks, connectionist systems, evolutionary algorithms, fuzzy systems, and hybrid intelligent systems in which these paradigms are contained.

IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society (NPS)

The Society encompasses all phases of nuclear and plasma sciences and engineering, including instrumentation, detection and measurement, particle accelerators, reactor systems, effects of radiation on materials and components, and applications.

IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (OE)

The Society encompasses all phases of nuclear and plasma sciences and engineering, including instrumentation, detection and measurement, particle accelerators, reactor systems, effects of radiation on materials and components, and applications.

IEEE Power Electronics Society (PEL)

The Society's mission is for the development and practical application of power electronics technology, including the use of electronic components, the application of circuit theory and design techniques, and the use of analytical tools.

IEEE Power Engineering Society (PE)

The scope of the Society embraces planning, research, development, design, application, construction, installation, and operation of facilities systems for generation, transmission, and distribution of electric energy, and other activities. NEW!

IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society (PSE)

This new Society includes the theory, design, development, and implementation of product safety engineering related to the process required for ensuring that electromechanical products are safe for use within a wide-range of environments. Dissemination of technical information to enhance personal product safety engineering skills is a primary focus of the Society.

IEEE Professional Communication Society (PC)

Society interests focus on the research and development of new communication techniques and media, definition of professional standards, fostering of continuing education, and study of effective techniques for preparing, organizing, processing, editing, teaching, and disseminating technical information.

IEEE Reliability Society (RL)

The Society encompasses all aspects involved in attaining reliability, maintaining it through the life of the system or device, and measuring it. Availability, maintainability, product liability, quality and system safety are covered.

IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RA)

The Society is interested in both applied and theoretical issues in robotics and automation. Robotics is here defined to include intelligent machines and systems; whereas automation includes the use of automated methods in various applications to improve performance and productivity.

IEEE Signal Processing Society (SP)

The Society addresses the theory and application of filtering, coding, transmitting, estimating, detecting, analyzing, recognizing, synthesizing, recording, and reproducing signals by digital or analog devices or techniques.

IEEE Society on Social Implications of Technology (SIT)


The Society strives for the application of electrotechnology for beneficial uses by humankind, the application of high professional and ethical standards among IEEE members, and pursues interests in the impact of electrotechnology on society.

IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society (SSC)

The Society's interests cover the design, implementation, and application of solid-state integrated circuits for all applications, including computers, communications, signal processing, and optoelectronics.

IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society (SMC)

The Society is involved in the integration of the theories of communication, control, cybernetics, and system structure and the application of these to a vast variety of systems including biological, technological, and societal systems.

IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control Society (UFFC)

The Society encompasses the theory, technology, materials, and applications related to the generation, transmission, and detection of mechanical waves and vibration, their interaction with fields, ferroelectric materials, and frequency control.

IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VT)

The Society concerns itself with land, airborne and maritime mobile and portable communications services; vehicular electro technology, automotive industry equipment and systems; and traction power, signals, communications, and control systems.
