Instructions for session chairs are shown below.

Thank you for agreeing to serve as a session chair and/or organizer for a session at the 2007 IAS Annual Meeting. I would like to give you a few general guidelines to help insure things runs smoothly.

First, if you are unable to fulfill this responsibility, please contact your session organizer and me at t.nondahl@ieee.org and as soon as possible with the name of your replacement.

Second, each session chair is asked to please bring a laptop computer with you to your session or contact an author in your session to make sure a laptop is available for use with the PC projectors. Most authors will use power point for their presentations, but having Adobe Acrobat installed is a wise backup plan.

Third, please be sure to attend the author's breakfast on the morning of the session that you are chairing or organizing. During this breakfast, please work with the presenters in your session to make sure any particular needs or requirements are addressed. Also, this is a good time to transfer all presentations from the authors to a central laptop computer. It is certainly possible to change computers which are connected to the projector during the session, but this tends to create delays and add confusion.

Finally, be aware of the overall schedule for the conference. Each session is scheduled for 4 hours and will contain a maximum of 7 papers. This allows 30 minutes for presentations, including questions and a few minutes between each presentation for you to introduce the author and switch the presentations. Please do not deviate from this time limit and keep presentations in the order in which they are scheduled in the program. In the event that a presenter does not attend the session, simply take a break of 30 minutes and re-convene the session at the appropriate time. This allows attendees to move freely between technical sessions based on the scheduling given in the program.

Thank you for your help with the conference and, as always, let us know if you have any questions.
