September 22 Meeting, Blue Star Brewing, Mike Fournier on SCADA Systems

Join us on Thursday, September 22, 6 PM for Mike Fournier's presentation on supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems. Mike will provide an overview of distributed control systems (DCS) and programmable logic controllers (PLC) technologies, advantages, and disadvantages, hybrid control system architecture and differentiators. He will discuss system security both in the physical location, along with the control system network, and integration of legal mandates. Mark is with Five Star Electric. Wednesday-Friday, October 5-7, IEEE PES CIGRE Symposium

We are pleased to announce that the Power Engineering Society, International Council on Large Electric Systems, will now be held at the Hilton Palacio del Rio in San Antonio Texas on the originally scheduled dates, 5-7 October 2005.  This is an excellent, attractive venue on the famous Riverwalk.  Accompanying persons will be very pleased with the restaurants, shopping, and museums within  walking distance of the hotel. The several CIGRE Study Committees meeting in conjunction with the Symposium on the days preceding and following the Symposium also remain on the schedule as planned. Thursday, October 13, Central Texas Lighting Exposition, Austin

The Texas Capital Section of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America is proud to present a tabletop exhibit of new lighting products to our regional design community. Consider this to be Central Texas' mini-Lightfair!! Products will include luminaries, lamps and control systems to say the least. This is a FREE event! The exhibit doors open at 3pm and appetizers begin at 6pm.
