Chinese Visa Information
Humanoids 2018 attendees will have to apply for a Chinese visa (an “F” visa or an “L” visa) if not entitled to applicable visa waiver programs.
1. Apply for a Chinese visa
1) “F” visas are issued to those who intend to go toChina for exchanges, visits, study tours and other activities. To apply, the following documents are required:
Valid passport
Visa Application Form attached with a photo
Invitation letter from Humanoids 2018 organizer
2) “L” visas are issued to those who intend to go to China as a tourist. To apply, the following documents are required:
Valid passport
Visa Application Form attached with a photo
Documents showing the itinerary including air ticket booking record (round trip) and proof of a hotel reservation, etc.
2. Visa waiver programs
1) 144-hour Visa-free Transit (Transit without visa (TWOV))
Passport holders from the following 53 countries are exempted from applying for a visa during a 144-hour transit in Beijing:
European countries:Austria, Belgium, Czech, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece,Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands,Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Russia, UK,Ireland, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia andHerzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Albania, Monaco, Belarus.
American countries: TheUnited States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile.
Oceanian countries:Australia, New Zealand.
Asian countries: South Korea, Japan, Singapore,Brunei, UAE, Qatar.
To apply for a 144-hour TWOV, the applicant shall:
Hold a valid passport.
Hold connected flight tickets and be in transit to a third country or region by an international aircraft. Round tickets, e.g.London-to-Beijing and Beijing-to-London pattern, are not applicable.
Submit the application to the airline by which the applicant arrives at Beijing Capital International Airport.
Upon entry with a 144-hour TWOV, the visitor shall:
Not leave the administrative region of Beijing.
Depart from Beijing Capital International Airport to a third country/region within 144 hours (starting from 00:00 of the next day after entry).
2) Mutual visa exemption
According to agreements on mutual visa exemption between China and foreign countries, foreign citizens holding an ordinary passport of the following countries are exempted from applying for a visa: UAE, Barbados,Bahamas, Ecuador, Fiji, Grenada, Mauritius, Serbia, Seychelles, San Marino,Tonga. The permitted duration of stay is normally within 30 days.
3) Visa exemption for visitors from Japan, Singapore and Brunei
Foreign citizen sholding an ordinary passport of Japan, Singapore, and Brunei coming to China for tour, business, visiting relatives and friends, or transiting to a thirdcountry, are exempted from applying for a visa. The permitted duration of stay is within 15 days.
