Welcome

The Industrial Electronics Society through its members encompasses a diverse range of technical activities devoted to the application of electronics and electrical sciences for the enhancement of industrial and manufacturing processes. These technical activities address the latest developments in intelligent and computer control systems, robotics, factory communications and automation, flexible manufacturing, data acquisition and signal processing, vision systems, and power electronics. The Society continually updates its program of technical activities to meet the needs of modern industry.

Field of Interest

IES Constitution, Article I, Section 4. The Field of Interest of the IES shall be confined to the theory and applications of electronics, controls, communications, instrumentation and computational intelligence to industrial and manufacturing systems and processes.
IES Constitution, Article I, Section 5. The Field of Interest of the IES may be enlarged, reduced or shifted moderately as the need of the occasion indicate with the provision that such revisions shall be processed as an amendment to this Constitution and shall be in accordance with the procedures defined in the TAB Operations Manual.

 

Slate of IES officers candidates

Dear IES AdCom members,

This is to inform you that the IES nomination and appointment committee has completed the selection process for IES officers slates. Note that 13 nomination forms were officially received for 5 open positions. The following candidates were selected to form the slates presented by the IES N&A Committee. The names on the slate appear in alphabetical order. The slate can be downloaded slate.

The appointment of the IES officers will take place during the next AdCom meeting in Lisbon.

Our Society as many others in IEEE has been recently targeted by various cyber security threats, email phishing, voice scam, and other. Beware of the suspicious  requests for urgent transfer or money. Typically, these will be signed with real names and addresses, and will state the transfer was requested by president and/or approved by treasurer. Scammers have contacted by phone our members worldwide trying to prove the requests were legitimate. Our members are asked to exercise extreme caution.

IES Journals in 2018 gain top scores by Clarivate Analytics

Clarivate Analytics published today results for journals - edition 2018.

So, IES most important journals received following results:

TIE increase IF from 7,05 (2017) to 7,503 (2018)

TII increase IF from 5,43 (2017) to 7,377 (2018)

IEM increase IF from 10,429 (2017) to 13,241 (2018)

TMECH increase  IF from 3,936 (2017) to 4,943 (2018)

All above journals also increase Article Influence Score i Eigenfactor Score.

Candidates for IES AdCom members at large are announced

Nominations committee approved 8 candidates for the elections by IES members of four AdCom members at large: Hadi Kanaan of Lebanon, Morgan Kiani of USA, Peter Korondi of Hungary, Yen-Shin Lai of Taiwan, Joao Pinto of Brazil, Akshay Rathore of Canada, Maryam Saeedifard of USA, and Sheldon S. Williamson of Canada.

If you are not on the list, you can start a petition by contacting Matt Lafler at m.lafleur@ieee.org and informing IES NAC chair Prof. Kamal AL-Haddad at kamal.al-haddad@etsmtl.ca not later than by August 2, 2019. A petitioner must collect 2% of IES member signatures which is currently 140. The deadline is August 15, 2019. The election starts on September 1, 2019, and ends on October 8, 2019. The results will be announced on October 15, 2019.

IES Nomination and appointment committee is announcing the following important dates for 2019 IES elections to fill all vacant positions.

• Nominations open till May 30th, 2019,  for the 4 open positions of IES Elected AdCom Members at Large (EAM@L)  
• Nominations open till June 30th, 2019,  for the 3 open positions of IES Appointed AdCom Members at Large (AAM@L)  
• Nominations open till June 30th, 2019,  for the 5 open positions of IES officers
