Nominations are solicited for the 2020 John R. Pierce Award for Excellence in Vacuum Electronics. The award (formerly, IVEC Award for Excellence in Vacuum Electronics) was established in 2002 to recognize outstanding contributions to the field. Anyone or any group of persons working in the field of vacuum electronics is eligible for this award. The Vacuum Electronics Young Scientist Award is aimed to recognize outstanding contributions from early career researchers and young professionals in the field of Vacuum Electronics. This award recognizes technical achievements, leadership in service, education, innovation and entrepreneurship. Any member of the vacuum electronics community may submit a nomination as described at the Vacuum Electronics Young Scientist Award page on the Vacuum Electronics website. The deadline is December 1, 2019. The winner will be announced at the IVEC 2020
IVEC 2020 will select the most outstanding, student-authored and presented paper for the honor of “Best Student Paper Award.” Criteria for eligible papers include those with a student as the principal author and presenter. Students are considered as individuals pursuing a baccalaureate or graduate degree at the time of the conference, or during the past year when the work was completed. Following ranking by the Technical Program Committee, six student papers will be selected for finalist consideration. Finalist students will present a 10-minute synopsis talk on their work on Tuesday evening during the conference. A winner will be selected from these brief summary talks. The award will include an engraved plaque along with a $500 check. Past recipients of this award are listed on the Best Student Paper Award page on the Vacuum Electronics website.
