The Branch activities organized by the
IEEE-IIEE Student Branch infuses a sense of competition, determination,
taste of success and failure, and above all leadership which helps them
in their career immensly.
The following Branch activities were held
in the year 2002 successfully.

- Seminar
on IEEE Membership Benefits.
A seminar was held in the auditorium
of IIEE in which the Chairman of IEEE-IIEE Student Branch enlightened
the importance and benefits of joining the IEEE. The freshmen and sophomores
attended this seminar.
A workshop on Robotics and Artificial
Intelligence was conducted by Prof. Owais Qidwai who is a promonent
lecturer from Tulane University, USA. In this workshop he gave a brief
outline of the diverse Robotics technology and in the end a Q/A session
was held in which very informative questions were answered by Mr. Qidwai.
SCONEST, Student Conference on Engineering
Sciences and Technology, are annually organized by the IEEE Karachi
Section and its Student Branches since Year 2002. The mission of SCONEST
is to provide a forum for IT professionals, students, theoretical researchers,
and practical educators to share insights and experiences of the current
state-of-the-art information technologies, academic and industry collaborations.
The Branch actively participated in SCONEST
2002, organizing the whole event side by side with the organizing team
of IEEE Karachi section. Mr. Shahid Suleman Jan, the Chairman of IEEE
Karachi Section lauded the role of IEEE-IIEE Branch.
- e-Indus2002
This year, IIEE-IEEE Student Branch
organized a full day Student Seminar and Projects Exhibition
e-Indus
2002 on February 2, 2002 at the Institute of Industrial
Electronics Engineering (IIEE), Karachi in which about 12 students
groups presented their projects and project papers on various disciplines
of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, particularly in field of
INDUSTRIAL ELECTRONICS. The Seminar and Exhibition was attended by
over 200 Students, Engineers, Faculty Members, Deans, Professionals
and Entrepreneurs.
The Seminar consisted mainly of two
sessions, inaugural session and the technical session. In total, 12
project papers were presented on the occasion. Six project papers
were selected from IIEE whereas six project papers were selected from
Universities/Institutes other than IIEE. The IEEE Karachi section
also supported the event both morally and financially.
