McCormick Place is the largest convention center in North America with over 2.6 million square feet (240,000 square meters) of exhibit space. It has a long history of hosting both world leaders and American leaders. It hosted over 60 world leaders in 2012 at part of the NATO summit. Since its opening in 1960, it has hosted US Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson for important events. More recently, it hosted President Barack Obama for his farewell as the nation’s President in January 2017.

              

 

McCormick Place is part of McCormick Square, which is a unique community area that includes the largest Rooftop Garden in the world, an innovative sustainable food program and a newly constructed arena that will open in 2017.
