Call for Papers

Robots and humans are becoming increasingly integrated in various application domains.  We work together in factories, hospitals and househoulds, and we share the road.   This collaborative partnership of humans and robots gives rise to new technological challenges and significant research opportunities in developing friendly robots that can work effectively with, for, and around people.  Under the theme of Friendly People, Friendly Robots, prospective authors are invited to submit high-quality papers representing original results falling under the theme, as well as in all areas of intelligent robot components, systems, and applications. Please submit papers via the customary PaperPlaza process, follow the format guidelines, and use the templates available in LaTeX and MS Word. Papers should be six pages in length, with up to two extra pages at the cost of $185 per extra page. For further submission instructions, please refer to author instructions page.  All papers are reviewed using a single-blind review process: authors declare their names and affiliations in the manuscript for the reviewers to see, but reviewers do not know each other's identities, nor do the authors receive information about who has reviewed their manuscript.  Best paper awards in various categories as detailed on officie IROS website will be selected.

IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters (RA-L) with IROS Option will be launched at IROS 2017. Information about paper submission to RA-L with IROS Option can be found at https://www.ieee-ras.org/publications/ra-l. Papers accepted by RA-L with IROS Option will be presented at the conference and published in RA Letters.

Workshops and Tutorials

As with previous IROS conferences, the organizers intend to arrange an extensive program of workshops and tutorials to be held prior to the conference. Proposals for half-day or full-day workshops and tutorials are invited. Workshops and tutorials will be held on September 24 and 28, before and after the main contributed sessions. Workshops provide an informal forum for participants in an active research area. Tutorials target more established research areas and provide insights to the state of the art, presented by recognized researchers in the field. Proposals should be submitted via PaperPlaza and should include a title, abstract, names of the organizers, the intended audience, a list of speakers, a tentative schedule, and a plan for soliciting participation, as well as any relevant information about participation in past workshops and tutorials organized by the proposers on related topics. Detailed instructions are provided in the Call for Workshops and Tutorials.

Competitions

Organizers of robot competitions are welcome to contact the conference competitions chairs competitions@iros2017.org with a proposal. The Call for Competitions provides details about the submission procedure for competition proposals.
