IROS 2017 will take place at the Vancouver Convention Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (map). Voted as the “Best City in the Americas” frequently, Vancouver is a vibrant, cosmopolitan west-coast city that offers a combination of world-class hotels, meeting venues and restaurants in a setting of spectacular beauty. The city boasts a comfortable year round climate, with the temperature expected to be around 15 degrees Celsius (60 degrees Fahrenheit) during IROS 2017. With Vancouver as the home base, IROS delegates are well positioned to explore western Canada before, during and after IROS 2017, from Whistler, one of North America’s top year round destinations, Victoria, British Columbia’s capital and the scenic Gulf Islands to the Okanagan Wine Country and the national parks in the Canadian Rockies.
Located on Vancouver’s waterfront (map) with a dramatic mountain backdrop, the award winning Vancouver Convention Centre (VCC) offers one of the most stunning settings in the world and convenient access to all the major tourist amenities in the downtown core of the city of Vancouver. The new West Wing of VCC where IROS 2017 will be held opened to the public in 2009, and it hosted the International Broadcast Centre during the 2010 Winter Olympics. The West Wing consists of 20,490 m2 of convention space, 8,400 m2 of retail space along a public waterfront promenade and 440 parking stalls. Downtown Vancouver can be reached from the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) via Canada Line, a fully automated rapid transit line, in 25 minutes for $9 (CAD). VCC is within walking distance to all the conference hotels.
