Paper Submission
All papers must be submitted electronically in PDF format adhering to the guidelines below no later than 23:59:00 (US Pacific Time) on September 15, 2015 via PaperPlaza. You may also submit a video as supplementary material along with your manuscript, for instance to demonstrate your experimental results; the video attachment must be submitted no later than 23:59:00 (US Pacific Time) on September 20, 2015 via PaperPlaza. PaperPlaza will guide you through the submission process.
At least one author of an accepted paper must register at the conference in order to submit the final version. Accepted papers will be presented in interactive sessions, having brief spotlight oral presentations preceding the interactive portion of the session. The possibility of showing “hands-on” demos of small-scale robotic devices is foreseen and actually encouraged.
All ICRA 2016 contributions will appear in full-length in the conference proceedings, distributed to attendees in a USB pen and then appearing in IEEE Xplore. Supplementary videos will be included as well.
During the conference, there will also be the opportunity to listen to presentations of selected papers appearing on the IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters (RA-L). These papers will be available on IEEE Xplore through the RA-L subscription, free for RAS members. A complimentary copy of these papers will be included in the USB pen distributed to ICRA 2016 attendees for their convenience.

Multimedia Attachment Submission (Optional)
Authors are encouraged to include a single optional video, e.g., to show experimental results. Videos of accepted papers will be included in the ICRA 2016 proceedings (USB and Xplore).
The attachment must be in one of the following formats: mpg, mpeg, or mp4. The resolution can be chosen freely. The file size is limited to 10MB. Videos should not use special codecs (coders/decoders) in order to provide as much portability across platforms as possible. Any other extensions will be blocked. The video contributions should not have any commercial pitch and the authors of each video must have clear copyright of the visual and audio content.
You may upload the attachment during submission of the paper, or do this later by logging in as corresponding author of the paper with your PIN and password and following the appropriate link. You may upload or re-upload this attachment until 5 days after the original submission deadline of September 15, 2015, i.e., until September 20, 2015.
Best Student Paper Award Nomination
Best Student Paper Award self-nominations are taken at the time of initial submission. If you nominate your paper for the Best Student Paper Award, you will receive TWO submission numbers. One is for the conference paper and the other is for the award nomination.
You may only request consideration for the Best Student Paper Award if the paper meets all the following criteria:
- The paper must be mostly written by the student, and the student must be the lead author. The advisor and/or others can be co-authors.
- At the time of submission, the lead author must be a registered student.
- The student will present the paper at ICRA 2016.
Review Process
All papers submitted to ICRA 2016 will undergo a peer-review process. Each manuscript will be reviewed by at least two reviewers who will give detailed comments. If the submission gets accepted, the authors will submit a revised (“camera-ready”) version that takes into account this feedback. The review process is managed by the ICRA Conference Editorial Board (CEB).
All papers are reviewed using a single-blind review process: authors declare their names and affiliations in the manuscript for the reviewers to see, but reviewers do not know each other’s identities, nor do the authors receive information about who has reviewed their manuscript.
Plagiarism and Excessive Re-use of Earlier Material
The content of any submissions should be original and must not be submitted simultaneously for consideration towards publication in any other conference or journal. All submissions will be checked against (self-)plagiarism using the iThenticate tool provided by IEEE. Possible violations will be reported to IEEE for further investigation.
Similarity Index Explanation
The similarity index does not reflect iThenticate‘s assessment of whether a paper has or has not been plagiarized. Similarity Reports are simply a tool to help our editorial board find sources that contain text similar to the submitted documents. The similarity score is a “cumulative” sum of similarity scores with all documents in the CrossCheck database and as such a high similarity does not automatically imply plagiarism (for example you may be using segments from a technical report of yours). The decision to deem any work plagiarized is made carefully and only after an in depth examination of both the submitted paper and sources that have similar text.
