IEEE Orlando Section Executive Committee Meeting

Guest Speaker: Mr. Michael McAlpin
Abstract: Mr. Michael McAlpin will be presenting various aspects of Cybersecurity in his talk. He has, for nearly 40 years, successfully led engineering and management teams. He led a team of 75 to build a corporate network with over 250,000 terminal connections on a packet backbone, which generated over $1 Billion in annual charge-back revenue. Mr. McAlpin managed and delivered software and hardware projects for multi-protocol communications support, voice networks, satellite packet networks, inter-airlines networks, computer telephony integration, protocol development, and protocol integration/certification. Mr. McAlpin developed the communications simulators for all on orbit data (C Band and S Band) for the Space Shuttle Training facility at Mission Control, Houston. He started his career with the National Security Agency teaching secure digital telephony and other electronic cryptographic protocols. He is currently an Instructor in the College of Engineering & Computer Science at UCF focusing on computer security, and computer science.
